Any Remington followers on here?

I recently traded for a 1100 20g with short double bead short barrel and I was trying to find the year. I believe it to be around 1990. I noticed it does not have the engraving on the receiver but still has LT on the barrel. I like the clean look of the reciever no scrolling or “sporting” Serial #R0009xxxK.

Was also interested if Remington currently marks the barrels with LT. It looks just like a Special field without the straight stock. This one has choke tubes.

Lucky you 00buck. Just what I am looking for. Have a 1100 TB trap model in 12 but always been a Remington fan of the past guns and would love a 20 in 3 inch. Still making the 1100 but costly as all get out. Hope you got a good deal. Not sure how Rem. is marking the light weight 20s today. NIce looking gun you have there.

When I was a teenager Dad bought me a 20 ga. model 1100. I loved that gun so much, it was stolen from our farm house. I have had several other 1100 models. The one I currently have is an 18" barrel with synthetic stock. It is great for 2 legged varmints.

While yours may well be factory-original, it's common to find used 1100s made up from odd combinations of barrels and stocks. With a few exceptions, what fits one will fit them all. A friend of mine had one with one style of checkering on the stock, another on the forend. Yours looks like a good one.

I wish I was home to take a picture but I'm in Florida for the winter.
I own a 20 ga 1100 SHEET B full size not a LT. The frame is the same as a 12 ga. It is all gold inlay and the most beautiful wood on any shotgun I own and I am told that all the time.

Here's a link to Remington barrel date code interpretation.

Manufacture Dates – Remington Society of America

This one has interchangeable chokes so I don’t think it has a date code on the barrel.

I would rate the condition at 98% zero bluing wear and one small almost undecerable small mark on the wood. It has a leather wrapped butt pad. I’m thinking of taking the leather off to reveal the original butt pad but really interested in the year of manufacture. It does not have the white diamond in the pistolgrip but has the the black plate with an R design.

You can go online and find the barrel date code matrix. Since shotgun barrels were often sold and traded, the only way to get the receiver date is to e-mail Remington and then wait about two weeks for a response.

I have no idea how you figured that out but thank you for the information!!!

Was it from the barrel marking or receiver serial?

The 1100 is a classic. Easy on the shoulder and reliable with good attention to detail, cleaning, and replacing o-rings regularly.

It has been vastly eclipsed by other shotguns like the Benelli M4 but it’s still a decently serviceable gun.

I think the code is contained in one of the links above but the first letter of the code indicates the month. There are 12 letters in the month code:
B L A C K P O W D E R X.

B is January and X is December. The rest fall in place.

My wife has a 1100 20g LT. I bought it in early 80s as a slug gun. A LEO that loafed in shop won a 20g Special Field at a police function with a 21"
Mod VR. I sold it for him and guy who bought it didn't want the short barrel. So I traded him out of it. I traded that barrel for 21" FC VR barrel.
It's a nice gun for small game and more useful than 21" Mod. The 20LT with slug barrel feels like you are carrying a rifle. Not bulky like 12g.

Something probably none of you know.........

The Remington mdl. 1100 holds the record for the most shots fired out of an auto loading shotgun without a malfunction/cleaning or parts breakage.
With a record of over 24,000 rounds. The record was set in 1978 with a Remington LT-20. THIS RECORD HAS YEST TO BE BROKEN BY ANY OTHER AUTO LOADING SHOTGUN.
.........So now you know!

I have had bothBenelli and Remington 1100’s.
Not too sure that I would consider the 1100/11-87 as eclipsed insofar as performance is concerned.
Both have their attributes and detractions.
I never found the Benelli to be anymore reliable than the Remington. It was easier to maintain for certain. However, my Remington’s never gave me an issue. The upside of an 1100 is that it is more comfortable to shoot than a Benelli is. The gas operation absorbs more recoil than Benelli’s system does.
