I saw a thread on the Colt forum that had good news and
bad news.

Good news..
A member of that forum had a conversation with the
sales manager at the Colt Custom Shop and
advised that Colt was now taking orders for the SAA.

Bad news....
$3400.00 a copy.

Wow.

Yeah a bit steep but am not surprised. Maybe we should all buy some scratch tickets!

I'll pick a time frame of the 50's on forward and it may well precede that time frame but the SAA's have always been significantly more expensive that their other offerings of the same time period.
A lot of money for a gun that depreciates so much if you shoot it.
Additionally, the Italian knock offs really place it well out of the price range for all but the VERY well healed cowboy action shooters. FWIW

I'm gonna get some flak for this, but the collectors of those guns have ruined the market for anyone aspiring to buy one. They run a new release and they buy em up slicker than hell , put zip ties on em so the cylinder can't be rotated and then they store them away. And Colt knows that and knows they have deep pockets and they use it to their advantage.

In all fairness, I can understand the Smith collectors here. The guns that cost big money are unfired from decades ago, rare models etc. I can't justify in any way $3400 for what is basically a production gun. They aren't going to be hand built and finished any more than most Smiths are I wouldn't think. Makes no sense to me.

Futures

Not much of a Colt Single Action Army wanter.
There are so many other Guns out there to get.

I have though, always wanted a New Frontier Model
SAA w/Adjustable Rear Sight. Someday I'll find one
at a reasonable price.

I do watch the Prices and keep an eye out for them.
Two recent brand new ones in town here were $1900.

Something Special to me is my Perfectly built United
States Fire Arms 44 Specials.
The Flat Top is in my Range Rotation, the Bisley remains
Brand New in the Box unfired.

I'm sure they are nice but like has been said, the new Uberti's are very well made & actually worth the price in terms of practical money spent. They offer tons of choices in terms on caliber, finish etc., more I'm sure than the Colt shop could produce. My stainless .45 Uberti, hammer FP, 4 clicks.
