Default Armi Jager A.P. 15 .22, M-16A1 lookalike.....

Bought a couple of guns at a yard sale the other day, one of which is an Italian made Armi Jager A.P. 15, .22 rimfire caliber lookalike of a old school M-16 A1. Even has a three prong flash hider. Didn't have a magazine, so I have ordered one, should be here next week, will shoot it then. Hopefully it will operate, cause I sure don't want to spend a lot of money on it. I have little money in it for now, but the magazine was $40.

I like the look of it, has M-16 features like a charging handle, safety works like an M-16, even takes down like an M-16.

Any of you have any experience with these?

The M16 was one version of their semi-auto .22. IIRC the others offered were a Galil and FAMAS in .22 and I believe they came in in the early-1980s.

I’ve always liked those, but never bought one. Congrats.

They turn up in a lot of low-budget movies as stand-ins for M16s. Here’s one from the original Dawn of the Dead. That little .22 mag is the giveaway.

In 1979 I found one left in a moved out apartment I owned. It had a broke firing pin, which cost me about $7.50 installed. I shot hundreds of rounds of Remington Thunderbolt and Winchester Wildcat ammo! I never to it to any formal shooting. But it was pretty good on soup cans in the 25 to 50 yard backyard shooting. With the AR type sights, I never tried for squirrels or rabbits.

The flash suppressor was in metric threads, so none of my silencer adapters would fit. I got about $100 in trade when I got rid of it. (pretty good for the time frame)

The model number for mine was an AP-74, it didn't say anything about AR or M-16, Just Made in Italy, a serial number, 22 LR. & AP-74. This version was also made in 32 ACP.
