Bonded or other "faux" ivory stocks - more window shopping
Also for fun - - - but nothing "real" here, folks. For real ivory stocks someone else will have to start a thread because I don't have any. Let's just post our fake ivories here.
Model 10 - purchased in 1981, I think, and I bet the bonded ivory stocks were purcahsed not more than a year later. This gun came from Oshman's Sporting Goods in Highland Park Village - Highland Park/Dallas, Texas. The Beretta Store is there now or almost in the exact same place.
Old model Ruger Vaqueros - as seen in my "pretty gun" thread:
Charles Daly Single Action Army - I have no idea what these stocks are made from, I bet polymer, but they look swell.

Don't have any, but have often thought about getting a set of faux ivory grips for my blued Govt Model. Several years ago I saw a set of "ivory" micarta stocks with the double-diamond checkered pattern. Almost got them. Ended up getting a set in black micarta instead.

I threw these imitation mastodon tusk grips on a SBH. Still not sure if I'm sold on them though.

I'm going to be on the outside of this one...if it's not real Ivory it has no place on my S&W revolvers. The real deal only be it Ivory or wood.

I have a couple. One set of Micarta from Hogue and one from Arizona Custom. The Micarta have aged over the last 15 years or so, the Magna Tusks from Arizona Custom hopefully will as they are still too white for my tastes.

Genuine fake ivory (OK, plastic, then) grips on my reproduction (fake) Remington black powder revolver...
BTW, that is a real Colt in the picture with it, with genuine, actual wood grips on it.

Three of the four “white” stocks are what I call “American Ivory” aka, smooth antler. The fourth set is genuine.

There is an imitation ivory out now that looks so real it actually has the Schreger lines in the end grain.

Here is my Model 29 resting in a Universal Gun Pouch from The Old
Trading Post. The poly ivory stocks are by AJAX. The pouch is gone
and the stocks are gone, but I still have the Model 29. It wears Herrett's
now.

Think I'll be adding some stag to these babies.
My brother had some on his blued Vequero and totally sold me on them.
My growing SAA collection so far.
Beretta/Uberti 7.5" Stampede 45LC,
Uberti 5.5" Cattlemen 45LC,
Ruger Vequero 45LC.

Yes Sistema, "Boone Trading" has them made to fit your gun and I've seen some other grip makers too, just can't think of their names. Just google "true ivory with Schreger lines" and you'll get some hits with examples.

I just came back to show you some off his site.
These are gone, but at $135 a set are a steal.
Amazingly real stuff, huh?
Make sure you get the "American Ivory" and not the simulated ivory. The American is the only with the simulated Schreger lines and is about double in price.

Oh, I ordered the "simulated", the only type that they showed for the K-frame S&W. Going back to their site, I see that they only have "American" for the Ruger Blackhawk and 1911's right now.
Their description for the "simulated" said "The look and feel of ivory grips at a fraction of the cost and these grips can be carved or scrimshawed. Superior to other imitation ivory grips on the market."
Hopefully I won't be disappointed, again. Most "faux ivory" that I have handled looked like what they are, plastic.

These are made from Resin + S product, purchased from David Warther in Ohio, search Guitar Parts and More. The Shreger lines are not a perfect replication but very similar, more than enough to fool the eye for most.
