A .45/.410 circuit judge has popped available here in California, I believe it is not on our awful roster so I have never seen one around. I am mildly interested in it. What are some of the reviews/experiences of you free staters?

There ok, make sure the butt stock is not cracked though. Many of them have a crack near the pistol grip portion of the stock due to the type of wood. I think it is a very hard wood out of Brazil or somewhere that tends to crack. Contact the seller and ask before making a trip to look at it. These guns are warranted, but I had to send them a copy of my retail receipt the last time I had warranty work done.

Taurus Warranty Comment: I had a very early Taurus Lightning (Copy of Colt Lightning pump rifle) in 45 Colt. The Action was as smooth as butter, but the springs were tempered wrong. After a frustrating first shooting session My LGS shipped it back for service (It actually fire 5 shots!) There forever warranty usually takes 6 to 8 months. At 1 year I sent a request for an update. No Response! AT 18 MONTHS, I had a very nice conversation with a VP at the 2009 NRA convention. I went prepared, gave him a copy of all my paperwork. 8 days after the convention was over, I got a nice letter letting me know what he found out. They were going to replace my rifle from the next batch imported. In 9 more months I got my replacement rifle. It was so poorly fit I had to use all my strength to cycle the action. I never fired a round from that gun! I never bought a New Taurus again!

BTW. Beretta/Uberti make that same gun, works with a butter smooth action, almost twice the price: ZERO FRUSTRATION!

I have a Taurus revolver and a Taurus pistol. Both have operated flawlessly. Personally, I wouldn't shy away just because its a Taurus - if I wanted the gun. Heck. I've had problems with S&W's.

Both my brother and I own the Taurus Judge revolvers, his is a 2015 Taurus Night Court Judge and mine is a 2017 Taurus Judge Magnum. Both of which have been 100% reliable and serve as nightstand guns loaded with mixed .45s and 000 Buck.

I imagine that the Rossi Circuit Judge would be more or less the same in terms of reliability, but rule of thumb when it comes to any used firearm (especially Taurus) is to function check it prior to purchase. Folks would likely spare themselves a lot of trouble having to deal with Taurus' Customer Service if they'd only make thoroughly sure that the firearm was in proper working order prior to completing the sale.

I was with an acquaintance at the range when he tried out his new Circuit Judge for the first time. With factory .410 ammo, it immediately started piercing primers. Don't know if many have ever noticed what happens when a primer pierces. The firing pin and breech face suffer minute surface erosion with each shot. A gun shop owner I knew indicated he quit carrying Taurus/Rossi products, because it seemed like every one he sold had to go back for some issue. I've had no desire to own a Taurus/Rossi product....YMMV

Thank you everyone for the replies. It’s a mixed bag of reviews for sure, but I think the cons are edging out the pros at this point. I’ll check the Beretta/Uberti site and then bounce it against the California roster. I am quite certain I will be disappointed though.

It's your call, but I would suggest paying the most heed to those who have actually personally owned a Judge, because there are a lot of folks who hate it, hate the brand, and will tell you all sorts of horror stories complete with second-hand anecdotal evidence about either at every available opportunity.

Oh, and I'm not being biased here either, there are plenty of folks out there who have had negative experience with Taurus/Rossi, and I'm fairly confident that there's no such thing as a Taurus/Rossi Fanboy, so you most likely don't have to worry that anybody is going to stand by Taurus/Rossi if they got a lemon and the company gave them the runaround about getting it repaired/replaced.
