Chiappa M1-9 9mm carbine

Has anyone here had any experience with this little carbine. I like the looks and it uses Beretta magazines. Lightweight and relatively inexpensive. However, my impression of Chiappa has always been that they were kind of cheaply made. This is just my impression and isn't backed up by anything.

My experience with Chiappa tells me they are pretty much garbage. I've no experience with this model, but one of their rimfire pistols has proven to be unreliable in the extreme regardless of ammo used. I would be wary of anything else they make.
 
My father in law bought one. It has been his only firearms regret. Parts flying off the first time he took it shooting cause it to malfunction. He replaced the parts and it has been sitting in his safe since.

I had one of the M1 carbines in 22lr a few years ago. Only one range trip. On the 2nd magazine in went full auto only stopping when the magazine was empty. Next magazine, same thing. I called the LGS that I bought it from while I was still at the range. He said bring it back NOW! I did, and he allowed me a full refund. Never heard anymore about that rifle, and have never considered that brand again.
 
I have the .22 m1 carbine, looks really good. I've only shot it once. The trigger is so bad I thought the safety was still on. feels like 20lb pull.
 
I agree their stuff is junk. Back in 80s a M1 style 22lr carbine was sold under Iver Johnson trade mark. They were going full auto and had to be refunded. Several guns now on market were already sold years ago under other brand names. German designed and originally imported under US names. Also there has been middle men brands. These brands collect guns made by different small companies all over and brand them their own. So possible to get all grades of firearms under one label.
 
The only Chiappa I own is great, but Chiappa doesn't manufacture anything, they are an importer.

I have a Chiappa MC 14 .380 that's a nice gun, a Beretta 84 clone made in Turkey and previously imported by Zenith.

I also have one of those, but I have a differing opinion, at least regarding the accurate part. Mine doesn't group, it patterns. At least I bought it cheap.
 
Wikipedia. They are definitely a manufacturer, in Italy. Reproductions for RE-enactments and competition, but not known for serious defensive firearms.
