Found a CZ 527 Mannlicher in .223 with set trigger

Always thought they were nice looking guns, never saw one in person let alone with a single set trigger. Was at a gun show. Looked at it, asked his lowest price which wasn’t bad and walked away. The Tasco 6x24 scope was mounted on it. Walking outside the building heading to another one and thought, you dumb ***, get back in there and buy it. Never see another, it was in great shape. He couldn’t come down on price anymore so he threw in 50 rds of military ammo. Wasn’t looking for one but figured, what the heck! Only live once

Can’t wait to shoot it, not sure when. The rifle range is 1 hour away. Last night on an auction site I won a Savage Anschutz model 54 Sporter, will have it in a week to 10 days. The rifle Gods have been watching out for me, Larry

You chose wisely! If you look on the right side at the stock line, where the barrel and receiver meet, you will find the date code. Check J&G Sales in AZ for magazines.

The American (third from the top) is gone but was replaced with a varmint HSP stock .223.

This is an American .222 Remington I traded into a few years ago and gave to my brother. A few months later I found a used mag for it. He did not have a small bore, centerfire walking varminter.

I have a few CZ 527 rifles. I think of them as what Bill Ruger would have produced had he been born & raised in eastern Europe and not economized on fit & finish.

The CZ trigger is pretty well adjustable in its non set mode, to the point I really don't use the set. The down side is that in regular mode the trigger moves a sear link which then moves the sear. So it can be a tad soft. Jard sells a one piece replacement for us finicky types.

When I bought my 527 carbine in 7.62X39 I did so because I wanted to use cheap ammo (it was a while back

) and not bother with reloading. But the damn thing shot so well I did dies, Hornady bullets & brass for even better accuracy.

Very nice, congratulations on that find. i always wanted one in a popular chambering, but could only find the 6x55, which is a great cartridge, but too far off the beaten path for me.

The CZ full stock 22LR 452's shoot way beyond what a full stock should. I think you're gonna love that one.

Hey Larry,
Very nice rifle. I really like the Mannlicher stock, and with the Bavarian arched comb. They handle great! The set trigger is nice to have, too. Together, they make for a rifle that can give very fine quick offhand shots. Towards that end, a different scope might be a better choice. But, depends what you'll use it for.
Lucky for you that you have actual gun shows to attend!

Larry,

you scored a nice Stutzen. Ferdinand Graf von Mannlicher has little to do with the short barreled and full stocked rifles that were around long before him. CZ BRNO has a long history of manufacturing firearms, they had received the DWM machinery after WWI and started manufacturing Mauser 98s. During WWII Germans used the BRNO factory and the first Brünner sporter in .22 l.r. was built on a reduced Mauser action, the model 1 was built shortly after WWII and evolved into the modern CZ sporters.

The Savage Anschütz 54 sporters were marketed as 1420 and 1422 by Anschütz and are great rifles that I love and collect. The 1423, the Stutzen chambered in .22 l.r. is especially dear to me! The 54 Anschutz evolved out of the same reduced Mauser action of the DSM but was designed by Walther Gehmann for Anschütz.

The top one was with me at the range yesterday. I had taken the scope off and shot it offhand at 25 yards, with the set trigger function and without the set trigger function. It left me undecided what I preferred for fast shooting at that distance.

Of course! I have some in my collection. They are outstanding shooters that can keep three rounds at 100 m on a 10 mm target paster.

I have a CZ452FS(22lr)...and the CZ527FS(223/556)....both are the most accurate rifles I own....sad that neither are imported anymore...

Here is my HS Precision stock .223 varmint. These had a 1-12” twist. It likes the 45 grain Winchester varmint loads.

Thanks for all the comments. Checked J&G and no mags. Will watch an auction site. Colbybruce what kind of accuracy are you getting, nice collection of CZ’s.

Searching the internet I assume my gun has a 1 in 12 rate of twist. I will measure it as time passes. What is the best weight of bullet to use? Still have the reloading dies from when I had a Ruger No1 V in .223, though I sold them. The barrel has an 04 stamped on it so it’s a 2004 gun. Heavy little thing.

Jim, I also like the Bavarian arched comb and the magazine right in front of the trigger guard. This will be a plinker and will use the scope till it breaks. Had trouble with every Tasco product I owned new. It is nice to have gun shows back.

Andy, always love to see the guns you have pictured. I actually sent you an email on the double trigger 54 Stutzen to buy it. I thought it was the ultimate model 54. The email came back 2 days later tagged as undeliverable, had email trouble then. Marked you as a favorite seller on an auction site and look to see what you sold occasionally. You have some nice guns.

Found the thread.................. Great score.... all the 527s and 550 CZs have the single set triggers..... in rimfire it's only the 453.

Looking for mags.??? go to "CZ-USA"'s webstore.... they have sales around 2X per year.

I've got a 527FS with a 1-4x20 Leupold and two 527 Americans one with the flush fit 3rd mag. all in .223( CZ says it's ok to use 5.56 in their rifles)

All mine are at or around MOA at 100 yds or 50 in .22lr.

Most wear small 1-4x20 Leupold scopes for field use in Pa.'s Laurel Highlands woods and small fields. I got a larger 1.65-5x36 Nikon scope on the three round American. I like smaller scopes on field guns in Pennsylvania.

Also have two each of the 452 rimfire FSs in .22lr and .22mag........

All great little field guns IMO....... enjoy!!!!!

Love those full stock rifles. I recently bought a Ruger Hawkeye in .223 with the full length stock. Waiting on a set of 30 mm rings to mount a Leupold 1.5x4 Fire dot on it. Trigger is wonderful. Have no idea what I will use it for but I had to have it

Hard to leave a Mannlicher behind..................

My first fullstock/ mannlicher was and still is a Ruger 77 International in .243 in the early 80s.
Got the CZ FSs in .22lr,.22mag and .223 great rifles........ somehow accumulated 3 fullstock 10-22s.... a "gentleman's" 10/22

Great thing about the CZ 527 is the scaled down Mauser action.... scaled to the .223 and 7.62x39
