Thanks all. Ya I am not sure about fusion quality. I see some on Ebay, most are not labeled as manufactured by any known maker. Also see some original wide spurs, WW1 etc. I did think Midway had a quality hammer but cannot seem to locate it lol. Thanks sureshotbob.

When I was building 1911's in the 80's I would find them in surplus parts dealers box of hammers and at the same price as thin hammers.

Yes I see them but esp. on Ebay a lot are not identified by manufacturer and the serrations for thumb cocking look wanky at best., like a soft pour MIM with no separation in the serrations, they look like a lousy thumb perch for cocking. What I really want is a good old stock milled solid wide spur with good deep serration on the hammer top for thumb interface.
Something like a Type 2 Colt Model 1911 hammer made in the range as follows:

Chino I have one made by EMC out of Kingsport ,TN.
It looks to be a machined copy of a Colt mod. 1911 type wide long spur with a sharp rear edge for serial range 89801-108600 .
It is brand new from Brownells part no.100-001-777 .
This looks just like the one made by Turnbull.
I will part with it for $25.00 shipped.

I too was looking for a good quality wide spur hammer for a retro Springfield Armory build. I rejected all of the less expensive ones. They looked cast, with seam or mold lines and poorly formed checkering. I considered a genuine USGI surplus part from ebay but without the ability to see one in person and examine the sear hooks under magnification, I was hesitant. I ended up with one of the EMC parts like sureshotbob has. It is very good quality. I believe they are no longer in production though. Here it is installed.

Thanks Bob, I sent you a pm. Hey Walter, that looks perfect., just what I want! Did you have to change out the grip safety for a Rat Tail or that a standard? Can't tell from the pic. I've got a Rat Tail in my stash just in case, Thanks again Sureshotbob.

All I did was very lightly touch the engagement surfaces on the EMC hammer with a fine Arkansas stone and it dropped right in with no changes needed to the grip safety. I then dry fired it about 100 times. The trigger breaks clean at 4 lbs, 12 oz. That's fine, I wasn't looking for a National Match action.
I also replaced the Springfield Armory logo walnut stocks with a set of full checkered walnut stocks. I suppose I could replace the teardrop shaped thumb safety with something more appropriate for a WWII era M1911A1 but probably won't bother.
