A few weeks ago I started a thread called "Looking for the right pistol". As an old and confirmed revolver guy I was seeking help finding a good hammer fired DA/SA carry pistol. From your many great recommendations I constructed a shopping list and got busy. It became quickly obvious that our current gun market situation had gobbled up a lot of the leaders on that list. So I went to a friend who is also a pistol salesman at the local Buds. He was quick to show me a new CZ that he had just bought and then steered me to a CZ 75 P-01 that had just come in. I confess than until that day I had never touched a CZ pistol but you folks had recommended it so ultimately it came home with me.

After playing with it for several days I found I liked it very much. Yesterday we made our first trip to the range together. I don't keep inaccurate guns very long so I was a little apprehensive. Shouldn't have been! The attach photo is of my first five shots from the CZ fired at 15 yards off hand with some of my reloads.

Thanks for the help.

Ed

Welcome aboard the CZ train. I hope you enjoy it as much as I've enjoyed mine.
The only minor gripe I have is the OEM sights on many models aren't easy to see. A couple dots of nail polish help brighten them.
Good luck.

Wonderful guns. I had never owned a DA/SA pistol before and wanted to try one. I researched and then purchased a P-01 Omega and sent it off to Cajun Gun Works for their Pro Package. Had night sights installed and purchased a set of their grips as well. It has a fantastic DA/SA trigger now and it is very easy to shoot well. It is the same size as a Glock 19. I have also owned a CZ 75SA and a P10C.

have several CZ's, the 75 variety, and my latest is a CZ SPo1 compact. I have big hands, so the "big" grips suit me well. Rugged gun. I haven't learned to shoot it as accurately as some of my others, but that will come. Also a CZ 308 Mannlicher bolt rifle, scoped, love the way the stock on that has a "swell" for a right handed shooter, and the European stock style works well for me too. Lots of value in all the CZ's.

All the best, and stay safe. SF VET

I, too, have the good fortune to have a coupla P-01’s. They aren’t as refined as a Beretta Compact, but they’re built to last several lifetimes. Sorry that yours has that awful black splotch on the front ;)

... They aren’t as refined as a Beretta Compact, but they’re built to last several lifetimes...;)
I agree with that, although they seem to be working on the refined part. The CZ Custom 75 Bull Barrel "Shadow" is a step closer to "refined", and they are opening a factory in the US. I am happy with my P01 Omega (not giving up on the S&W Gen 3's though).

On a side note, I am on the record elsewhere calling rubber grips mushy, but the "factory tires" on the P01 with the palm swell are fitting my hand just fine...

Disclaimer: My father worked in the CZ project office as a young intern, and actually met Joe and František Koucký, albeit well before the VZ75 design ever saw a blueprint. I might be a little biased on the subject... only a little though... ;)

Since it was a Communist country at the time, he was allowed to shoot a handgun at a government supervised shooting club, but not own one, until my parents moved to the US... a detail occasionally mentioned at the dinner table, lol.

I'm venturing into CZ territory myself. I found a 1987 CZ 75 in a local shop recently and can't believe how good it feels in my hand. Only problem is the lack of pre-B mags available. I had to settle on the $50+ factory SP01 Mags that seem to work well in these older models.

I than went to another shop and handled a lot of 1K+ CZ's, but didn't want to spend that much $$. I settled on a CZ 97 that was in the LEO only case for just over $600. I've heard the weight of these really soak-up the .45 recoil.

I've been waiting for the weather to clear-up so I can go shoot these. Hopefully tomorrow.

Here's the 75.
