HK P7 German Army Model

I got a few HK P7 that were used in the German army by special body guards for politicians. Those are rarely encountered and usually swept up by German collectors with special licenses. I fell in love with one of them and shot it yesterday for a few rounds.

It is a as nice a shooter as I remember from previous experience several decades ago. The gun is in the correct box, with two mags, papers, target and tool.





And the BW acceptance and property markings that makes it so rare and desirable for some.

Is the finish any different to the "regular" P7? I ask because the military Steyr GB has a phosphate "gray ghost" type finish and the rest have a black bed liner finish.

Do I remember correctly reading somewhere that the Personenschützer of the Feldjäger went to the P30 a few years ago?

They always carry something different from the standard P8.

The pistol has the standard finish. I believe that it was used in only small numbers by the Personenschützer of the German Feldjäger, the military police.

Back around 1978 they carried even Walther PPks in .32 ACP. A friend of mine was a Feldjäger.
 
I wish I had one! Back in my Kosovo days, I worked with a German police lieutenant. When he went on leave back to Germany, I offered to clean and store his P7. While he was gone, I did a week as a range officer with unlimited ammo. I shot the heck out of his H&K. It was extremely accurate and I shot it well.

When Martin got back from leave, his pistol was all nice and clean. :D

The semi-affordable P7s pretty much all came out of one batch of 13,000 ex-police pistols which the German state of Niedersachsen sold back to H&K after adopting the P2000. These pistols were all exported to the US and sold on the civilian market; most, but not all, are Nds-stamped.

That was a one-time deal in 2007/08. The years right after were the time of relative plenty.

The commercial import versions (usually in much nicer shape) command significantly higher prices.

PS: Disappointingly for us, it seems that the approximately 38,000 P7 pistols just retired by Bavaria last year, the last German state to issue them, will not be sold into the general market, at least based on scuttlebutt I've read.

that's because our German fundamental left wing/environmental parties always think they could make the world better when they destroy retired army and LE guns instead of selling them. They are so anti-gun that they lack completely any knowledge or understanding of how the market goes :mad:
make them kaputt and less evil will happen...

After an unnerving day without power in Northern Texas I am glad and grateful to have electricity again.
I have three German P7 pistols from the German military with serial numbers between 78737 and 80071. Whether that means that over 1314 HK P7s were delivered to the BW or not needs a lot of research.
 
Andy, after this glacier recedes and the ice age ends we need to get together and make a burnt offering of powder. I bet I can find my way over your way and take you up on that free range pass.

Walther and SigSauer to my knowledge never made a habit of delivering closed serial blocs to military or police agencies. But I do not know whether H&K did and does.
