Boyd's AT ONE stock
I've got a Remington 788 project going on and am thinking about the Boyd's AT One thumbhole stock. Has anyone used one and if so how do you like it? Have used Boyd's products in the past so know the quality is there for the price.

Bought a Ruger 10/22 customized with a Boyd’s stock in a brown laminate. Nice stock, like the colors and it fits me OK. Not a big fan of laminated stocks but I will keep this one on the gun. Larry

I put a Boyd's right handed thumbhole stock on a 10/22. It fit me well and was a nice stock but after about 10 years I took it off and put a different stock on. I could not use the rifle left handed because of the thumbhole and cheek piece. If you plan on shooting it using your off side, you might want to think about another style of stock.

I have two, here is a pic of the last one I bought for a 10/22 build. They are easy on the eyes and have a nice tight fit.

Here’s mine:
What drew me to it was that I could set the length and the cheek riser right where it worked best for me. In the interest of full disclosure, I am NO RIFLEMAN and I know precious little about making a stock perform. With this one, I did have to sand the barrel channel a good bit to fit and free float the profile of the heavy varmint barrel.
The rifle is a Howa .223 and this is specifically for an annual prairie dog hunt. I have gotten better and done better every single year and 2021 will be my 7th venture out.
My most recent addition to this rig has been a Witt Machine & Tool clamp on muzzle brake. For all the brake haters, hate as you like, it matters not even one Witt. (haha see what I did there?) The brake on a simple .223 shooting 50gr V-Max gives me one massive benefit — I can keep full view in my scope and I can watch the hits happen.
Before the brake, I could only see impact if the dog was 250+ yards away, because I had to (fast as possible!) try to reacquire the view in my scope due to the short bit of recoil. With the muzzle brake, that recoil jump is *GONE* and now I never lose my view.
It is not and never was about recoil on the shoulder, it’s all about my view in the optic.

I think both Bishop and Fajen are long out of business. I have used several Boyd stocks, mostly conventional sporter style nutmeg laminate and really like them. I have one thumb hole style in a salt and pepper laminate that is really good also. All went on Mauser M98 actions, with the exception of a Remington M7 for my wife.

It has been a while. Fajen bought out Bishop then Midway USA bought Fajen and moved the operation out of Warsaw. Some of the former employees started their own businesses and the few that are left are just doing high end work. My bank is at the corner of Gunstock and Walnut.

Here is a Remington Mohawk rebarreled to with a heavy 6.5 Creedmoore barrel. I had to open up the barrel channel myself but that was only because they don't make one for a heavy barreled Mohawk. It is a pretty sweet stock

Nice build. The 600/660/600 Mowhawk and 788 were so good that Remington discontinued them because they were cutting into the sales of the much more expensive 700.

A few years ago I had a 700 .243 that I put in a Boyd's Thumbhole stock. I liked it a lot and it did well. Overall I think Boyd's offers a very good product at a great price.
After upgrading the scope I needed to go to an adjustable cheekpiece - so I bought an At One.
I didn't like it. The cheekpiece didn't seem particularly stable in the stock's mechanism.
