Colt sold to Czech company

That's a good thing, they already own and manufacture the Dan Wesson's fwiw and do a phenomenal job too!

Definitely better than being in the hands of a blood sucking holding company bent on extracting any value from the company and leaving it in ruins. Hate to see Colt go foreign owned, but CZ does a good job with their products and should maintain quality with the brand. I own several CZ pistols and rifles, and they are great guns.

I love my Colts, and am glad to see that they have a brighter future. At some point, I would think CZ will end up pulling the plug on the Hartford manufacturing facility when the Arkansas plant comes on line. In time, this will also mean that we should finally be able to have a decent supply of new Colts to chose from. Nothing stays the same, Colt and Hartford have had a long run...

Colt/CZ/ColtZ...whatever it's called will be fine. You rarely hear Dan Wesson owners complaining about any quality issues.

Definite upgrade.

The scary part is that CZ bought Dan Wesson and then tried and failed to produce the 715 revolver profitably. The DW pistols are doing well under CZ.

I hope they keep the Colt revolver line going.

Colt does have a history with CZ if I recall - wasn't there a jointly produced 9mm semi pistol made by CZ and carrying the Colt name, about 20 years ago?

The CZ40 is what you were thinking of. Came out late 90's early 2000's.

Great gun....I own 2 of them. Feels like a 1911 with CZ innards!

Made for two years only, and chambered in .40 S&W only. Colt called it the Z40 (I think).

Grab them quickly if you find one !!!

Your OP would have better titled, "Colt saved from extinction by a wonderful gun manufacturer".

I agree this would have been a better title. CZ produces some top notch and very accurate guns. They have made the 22LR the darling of bolt guns for the masses, producing very accurate rifles at a fair retail price. I agree that Colt has now been saved from extinction. Wall Street Greed killed Remington. All gun manufactures need to be owned by people who love gun and love shooting. Any other ownership appear to be a disaster waiting to happen.

But won't it look odd for the 45 Colt caliber stamping to read 11.43×33mmR? :o

In the scheme of things, I think it's good. At least CZ is a real firearms company and not some conglomerate ready to use the Colt name as a tax write off.

I'd like to get a Colt revolver.

As soon as CZ comes out with their version of the Cobra or Python I'll plan to Czech them out.
