Bushnell trs-25 red dot

Never used one, but have read good things about them for their price point.

One Red Dot I have used a bit, and consider a very good sight for the money is the Sig Romeo-5. I have two of them, one on an AR pistol, and one on a CAA chassis using a Glock 9mm.

They have clear, good quality lens's, reliable adjustments, long battery life, and a "shake awake" feature that works, is convenient, and increases battery life. They are about $135 or so, with two mounts included.

You've got a lot of height-over-bore already with that setup, no need to have your red dot at AR sights-height. See how your brace where you would rest your cheek is lower than the top of your pic rail? Your mount should be as low as possible.

I have one mounted on a Windham Weaponry 5.56x45 upper. With the sight mounted directly to the receiver the pic rail on the gas block was visible. I mounted it to a Yankee Hill riser block and it is perfectly suitable now. That dot turns into star of Bethlehem when I use it The PA optics with ACSS work better for my eyes.

Nice setup! Thanks for the info. I have run TRUGLO sights before and been very happy with them, but they tend to be larger than necessary so I'm looking to try something new.

My recollection is that there was a demo class done at Gunsite a few months ago; a friend of mine worked it. I am trying to remember where I saw an article about the class and RDS. Maybe an issue of American Handgunner?

When I first mounted it on the CAA set up, I tried the low mount that Sig includes with the sight. It was too low for me.

Maybe someone with a thinner face or of smaller build who rested their cheek towards the back, lower part of the brace might find it works well for them. The high mount worked well for me, giving a good, stable cheek weld, and leaves a clear opening beneath the sight that might work well with low mounted open back up sights.

Another poster mentioned red dot star burst. Unless you have a defective sight, it is almost always caused by astigmatism. A prism sight with an etched reticle and a diopter adjustment on the ocular eye piece will usually work in that situation.

I've got a Bushnell TRS-25 red dot on my M&P 1522. Works great, adjusts to poi easily, holds zero. What else do you want? I had heard nothing but good about them a couple years ago when I bought mine. It does what its suppose to do.

I have a couple TRS-25. One of them has trouble staying on on two of the brightness settings. I have two Romeo 5s, and I like them much better. Smaller dot and auto on/off.

Just read in American Handgunner that Primary Arms Optics has a new red dot, model SLx MD-20, that is very similar to the TRS-25. Shooting Illustrated did a very favorable review. MSRP is $149.

For $75.00 and a lifetime warranty, you can't be the RD-50 from AT3 Tactical. I have one on my Buck Mark (replaced my Burris Fast Fire) and it is a great red dot. AT3 has optional mounts for AR platforms as well. Great customer service, too! It would behoove you to at least check out their products.

I had the TRS-25 on my RFPO for Steel Challenge when I first started shooting again and it is a very good sight but the dot is too small for me.
.
It's a decent sight but I have opted to use C-More Railways now and all my guns. I like having a larger dot (12)MOA and the ability change dot sizes as desired.

I run one on a Ruger PCC.

Have had no problems, and considering I got it from an Amazon sale @ $50, I'm more than pleased.

I run a Vortex SPARC on my AR/M4gery
more versatile and uses AAA batteries.

Be careful where you buy your TRS25. Knock-offs are all over Amazon and other websites. Buy from a trusted seller to insure you get a real one. There are a couple of web page dedicated to telling the difference from a fake to a real one. He's a link to video showing what to look for.
