Took awhile between sending out the check to the opposite coast and taking it home from the Local FFL, but the 20 gauge Winchester Model 12 from 1942 is now in the stable:


It joins its Remington 31 cousin:

Nothing but class. HOWEVER, calling the Remington 31 a cousin might just be an insult. Then I think back at the last family reunion I attended and I did have some cousins that I hoped belonged to another family.

both are fine pump guns,but the M12 is king!...and that's a darn nice one! congrats.......

Nice in 20 gauge especially. Sure can tell a difference pumping either one with those milled parts over many guns today. Thanks for sharing.

I would add that you need a Remington Model 17 also.

I have a first year Model 1912, 20 gauge 2 1/2” chamber that is a joy to shoot.

Personally I prefer the Remington 31, followed closely by the Remington 17 to the Winchester Model (19)12.

I do not need to get a Remington 17, but only because I already have two

IMHO this Remington 17 qualifies as "Benchmark Quality." I found it lurking in a small gun shop in the Midwest while on a business trip with a few hours to kill before boarding my plane.

Very nice shotguns.
I have a few Win. model 12's and that are sweet.
Single, SxS, pump, auto or O/U, thay are all fun to shoot.

Good luck on the botton eject, they are hard to find in good shape.

In New Jersey it is hard to collect/accumulate handguns. But long arms are just a NICS check away and my focus is field grade pumps.

It's proper venue is upland wing hunting. But as I don't hunt I hope to put it through its paces on the 16 yard trap line.

Congrats on your new (old) 20 gauge Model 12.

I find the 20 gauge Model 12 a fine pheasant gun and rarely miss with it.

Great shotgun. I would like to have another 20 gauge from my birth year of 1943, but any model 12 will do, to go with the 20 and 16 gauge. I've been caretaker of the 20 gauge for over 57 years.
