A few weeks ago I was talking to my buddy about the Ruger 10/22. I mentioned how I always wanted one but was leery on buying a new one. The last two new Rugers I bought have had to go back to the mother ship and were deemed non repairable. Sort of lost confidence in the brand. Not bad mouthing them....it is what it is.

My buddy told me to check out the Bergara BXR. "Never heard of them".
He sends me the web link. Dang!!! These things appear to be a lot of bang for the buck. To boot the price is very reasonable.

Made in Georgia. They are clones of the Ruger 10/22. Many Ruger parts are interchangeable including the mags. Loaded with quality features. Factory tuned trigger pack with a crisp 3 1/2 # pull..... 4140 Cr Mo fluted barrel that is threaded at the muzzle for the suppressor crowd...... Bentz match chamber.....Nitride coated bolt. ....quick detach sling cups on both sides of the stock. ....LOP adjustable, solid poly stock that is free floated on the barrel. Integrated pic rail in the receiver.

A couple weeks later I'm a proud owner. I gave it the cursory cleaning and made a range trip this morning. Got a rough sight in @25 yards. Moved a new target out to 50 yards. Wind picked up something fierce. I'll do the best I can. Started at the top bull and got a pattern. Made an adjustment and moved to the middle target. By the time I made the final adjustment and got to the bottom bull the wind was ripping and the target was bouncing around. Oh well....it is in the area. Be better days in the future.

Rifle shot excellent without a bobble. For less than $600 OTD......a bunch of bang for the buck. Glad I got it.

Bet that will be a real shooter. Prior to a couple years ago, I had never really noticed the Bergara brand. Then I read a couple reviews that spoke highly of them.

Wanted to buy a Ruger Precision rifle in .308, but couldn't find one, but did come across a Bergara BMP in 6.5cm at a good price, so I bought it. Glad I did, as it is tied with another rifle I own as the most accurate rifle in the safe, and I own a fair number.

Congrats.

Yes....once I got reading all the reviews on Bergara's product my skepticism was satisfied. The buddy who made the recommendation, knows a couple guys at his range who have them. He has shot both extensively and gave them a solid thumbs up.

It was refreshing to see the quality fit, finish and attention to detail in the rifle. That level of QC seems to be lacking from several of the big corporate makers.

Congratulations hope you report back when weather improves. Is that scope big enough and what ammo have you tried?

I surely will. Spring is springing early up this way. Had some great weather. Hope it continues. The winds yesterday accompanied a front that came through dumping a big rainstorm last night. April fools day 1997 we woke up to 30" of snow ....and no it wasn't an Aprils fool joke.

The scope is a Leupold VXR 1 1/4 x 4 power. I had it laying in the reserves. It will serve the purpose for that rifle. I have a 3-9 on back order for the CZ 457 .22 lr I purchased a month or so ago.

Yesterday I tried a box of Eley. I have some Norma....RWS and Lapua to test. I'll play around with it and see what it likes.

I've owned a Bergara bolt action rifle for the last couple years. I brought home a B-14 HMR in 6.5 Creedmoor. It's very well made, nice smooth bolt action, good trigger, and shoots to less than 1 MOA straight from the factory. The Barrels are made in Spain, and they are starting to get a following here in the US with their replacement barrels.

Congrats on picking up a rifle you will no doubt get decades of pleasure shooting.

I bought one last year and have had lots of problems with it. The mag stopped working first. Now a round will jam up the action and will have to be manually removed. Every time it happens the case i has a large dent in it or has a hole thru one side. Never had these problems with any of my CZ's.

What ammo are you using? Because of the tight match chamber they only recommend standard velocity. No Stingers or such. Same as with the CZ.

The Ruger 10/22 mags are interchangeable, did you try another mag? Went through a box of 50 yesterday without a bobble. I figured something would happen until a few break in rounds on it. Event free.

That's a complete bummer. I'd be interested to hear if their customer service is taking care of you. Did they send you a new magazine at least?

These 10/22 clones are new to me been into cz and anschutz bolt guns. Some folks are getting amazing groups from semi autos sure you will too if you stay after it.
