Went into a Gun Shop Sporting Goods Store Shelves Were Full?
Went to a sporting goods store this morning; they sell primarily things other than guns; perhaps, 10% of the store content is firearm related.
It was a bit surreal, the racks were FULL, with everything from brand new hunting rifles (bolt actions and such), many AK's for $659.00, AR's, AR10, I believe what were bullpup shotguns, just on and on. (no employee near to open cases)
Handgun cases...FULL. Lots of Kimbers, S&W, .22s, few cheapo revolvers.
NO ammo though, whatsoever.
It was bizarre to say the least. Glad they are available though. Will have to go back this next week and see if I can get someone to help.

Thought for a minute you went back in time. Still good to hear some stuff is available in certain areas. Slim pickens with firearms out my way. Especially with the guns I like with wood and glossy bluing.

The new firearm stock at my local shops seem to be back. But the cool old used stuff I'm normally into isn't. One of my local pawns use to have three counters full of used guns. Now it's lucky if they have 3 guns total.

^^^Hey Bud, ya, nothing wood and blued, but that is OK. It was all basically tactical stuff and a good amount of bolt action hunting rifles.
I guess one of the reasons I posted this is because, it did feel like April 1st or going back in time. Also, that I am hoping things in this capacity normalize.
Not really looking for anything in particular, but will see what they have next time I stop...not really in a rush, but the SUV might pull in there tomorrow after Church.

About once a month I stroll thru the local pawn shop to see if they have anything I want so I went in last week and they had one revolver Ruger I think and a couple plastic 9s and a couple rifles. It was painful to see they usually have several counters full of guns. Then I went by Academy to check for ammo, they did have some 9mm and 22lr and some shotgun shells. They had a sign that said 2 box limit. I thought that meant of each caliber but the clerk said no only 2 boxes of any ammo. I picked up 2 boxes of 22lr just for the hell of it $9.00 a box. I still have plenty of ammo stocked up.

Last time I went into my LGS, which has room for approx. 300 handguns and 100 rifles, had 5 long guns and 18 handguns. As far as ammo goes, they had about 30 boxes of .22 mag and about 10 boxes of .358 Win. That was pretty good, they usually don't have ammo.

My local pawn shop was down to 7 hand guns about three months ago when I was there. Was in yesterday and they were up to about 20 hand guns. Normal for them seems to run around 75 or so.

From what I've seen locally the shortage of long guns is mostly over, with a few exceptions of course. Handguns are more available overall, but if you are on the hunt for something specific it may be a scavenger hunt. Ammo is still almost nonexistent, though I've been seeing some glimmers of hope. Most of the panic buyers that wanted long guns have either already bought them, or can't find ammo for them so they are holding off. It was bound to happen eventually. Availability will return before prices come back to reality though. Too many stores enjoying making $60 on a $25 box of rifle ammo...

My LGS has plenty of plastic 9's and 380's. No ammo. Can't wait till we get some variety. I'm wanting a Beretta 21a or a Taurus PT22 to play with.

Handgun inventory is about half of what it was a year ago if you count all the single action 22 revolvers. Prices are up about 20% and holding. Every store has a few boxes of oddball rifle ammo. The .223 ammo and 7.62 ammo can be found every so often. You see a few boxes of 40s&w ammo and most is 20 round self defense ammo. Occasionally there is some 25acp or 32acp.

Around here ARs and similar products stayed in stock. Sure, the salad days of $350 ARs ended, but could always find a Ruger or S&W AR for their standard price.
Handguns, shotguns, and of course ammo went out of stock often and for quite a long time, but are coming back now (well, the ammo is kinda coming back, that's still pretty slow).
