Glock serial numbers
So I purchased a Glock model 22 today from a reputable dealer that has a large law enforcement client base.
During the transaction the clerk confirmed it was a police trade in, and it had come from Kansas. He further stated he could tell the agency had ordered the gun directly from Glock, and knew this because the serial number ended with the letters PD.
He also noted if the serial number ends with US, it means there was some type of issue with the frame and Glock had fixed it. My model 32 serial number does end with US.
There are some pretty knowledgeable folks here and I am wondering if anyone has heard of this.

I've always tried to date and or place where my Glocks have come from or when they have shipped...
To no avail, it all seemed rather confusing...
At the very least one I had, had Austrian proof marks and thats as far as I got....

I Received a Glock 30 for my duty weapon as a detective and carried it unto I retired. I sent an email to [email protected] and I received an answer. Serial DYK***US import 11 10 2000 Ship to LE in ID 2 4 2000.. I’m thinking maybe her reversed the dates but I’m not sure.

I had always though the US indicated a gun produced for sale in the US, but I could be wrong. Both of my Glocks have a US at the end of the serial number. I am the original owner of both, bought new thru dealers in CA. Neither has ever been replaced by Glock.

My gen. 3 model 26 is made in Austria, but has a ser. # ending with "US". My gen. 4 model 41 is made in the USA, and also ends with "US".
This would lead me to speculate the serial # that end with "US" are market specific.

Bet your shop is mistaken about that suffix.

Both my Glocks were made in Austria and have serial numbers that end in US.

I have a bunch of Glock’s, ranging from a first gen 17 that I bought in the 80’s to gen 4’s, all of mine SN#’s end in “US”. My understanding has been over the decades that the “US” indicated that the pistol was intended for distribution in the USA.
None of my pistols have ever been returned to the factory for anything, frame issue or otherwise.

mine and daughter's (LEO)
My Glock Gen 4 Model 21 45acp has no letters beyond the serial number. My daughter has the same gun (Gen 4 Model 21), agency issued, and her serial number ends with NCSP (North Carolina State Police).
Haven't heard anything about US

I just learned of this a couple days ago.
I bought a G17 Gen 5 from a local FFL. Gun is like new and in box with all the “stuff”. He said that’s a little odd since its a police trade in.
When I asked how he knew that he showed me the S/N and the “NH” indicates it was with an agency in New Hampshire, etc.
I notice this one has “Austria” on the side of the slide while both my 19x and 43 have “USA”.

Way back in the day (like, the 90's) In order for the G19 (and later, the G26) to score enough 'Import Points' to be imported to the U.S., Glock needed to add an adjustable rear sight. They came up with a very flimsy rear sight and included, what everyone knows as their fixed 'factory sight' in the box. Once the firearm was received in the States and passed through Customs, the sights would be swapped out and sent to the dealers.
My original Gen2 1990 G19 had the adjustable sight still mounted. The serial Number ended in 'US'. It was also sent in the old 'tupperware' box that had G17 labels (but the correct G19 information/numbers).
Replacing the sights MAY have been the 'issue' he was referring to.

So I took ColbyBruce’s advice and contacted Glock. Young man (Robert) looked up the serial number, was able to give me a date of manufacture (September 2013), but nothing else.
He did tell me the US ending does not have any significance, the Gen 1 and some early Gen 2’s had that designation.
Thanks to all for your information, I love learning something new each day.

Purchased in 1993 directly from Glock
(second digit in SN deliberately "X")
17 9mm AXH080US
19 9mm AXU080US
22 40SW AXD080US
23 40SW AXG080US
20 10MM AXZ080US
21 45acp AXC080US
The Glock Rep was a friend of mine, and they placed "080" in each number at my request. I thought they might be a collectors item some day.

Of my six Glocks, only the Gen 3 has a US ending on the serial. My Alaska Troopers edition starts with MX (MXL, actually). Go figure.

Issued Glock
I have an early Glock issued by my department. The serial # is the initials of my department and my radio call # after that. Nothing else. 7 characters total. Given to me upon retirement.
