After looking for a GSG 1911 22 for two years with no luck I stumbled onto the (Walther) Colt 1911 22 Gold Cup Trophy. I couldn't resist so I pre ordered it from Sportsmen's Warehouse. Thinking I was going to get the Government Model I was happy to see the Gold Cup in the box.
Now that I've had it for about a week I'm happy I bought this model. It feels more like a .45 then the GSG. I had the GSG but gave it to my son because he really wanted it.
The only problem with the Colt is that it came with a horrible trigger pull upwards of 9.5 pounds. It was advertised to have 5.5 pounds. I ordered a Cylinder & Slide trigger kit that I'm working on to see if I can get the pull down to 4.5 pounds.
The GSG was better right out of the box. Both guns are 80% compatible with the regular Colt so swapping parts is not a problem.
After 3 range trips I'm happy. I've fired over 600 rounds now using Aguila Super Extra and CCI Blazer. Not one failure do to ammo. ( I had played with the sear spring but ended up with hammer follow). I fixed that, my fault.
There is absolutely no recoil on this gun. Much better then the GSG which was slightly lighter.
I replaced the front sight with a Dawson Precision fiber optic. It's red but I'll probably swap it out for green. I see green better. The Gold Cup came with an adjustable rear so I was ahead of the game.
