Too complex??

This makes yours look rather Spartan… ;)

Ok, you've made your point lol.

You need a upper and lower matched to each other, a rugged and reliable sighting system and some magazines. I could see a simple quick attach light Anything else you don't

You need more weight way up front, maybe another low power variable optic and a heavy prism sight or two.

And a laser, don't forget a laser.

My safe is full of ARs that I built, "just 'cause I could". I have pistols and rifles with 16", 18", and 20" barrels. A variety of different optics and gizmos adorn some of them. None of the pistols now wear braces, but the rifles and carbines wear a variety of adjustable stocks

Yet, the carbine that I find gets the most use is a 16" Bushmaster Dissipator with fixed carry handle and rifle stock. No lights, no optics, no forend vertical grips. The only accessory is a sling.

You asked, "Is my AR setup too complex?"

Why should you even ask? As you can see, you've succeeded in opening the proverbial can of worms. The AR platform is like the "Mr. Potato head" of rifles. You can add just about anything you want. Bottom line...if you like it, who cares what anyone else thinks?

That’s why folks love the AR platform. You can do so much with it. Have fun. Personally, mine has a sling, light, red dot optic and co-witness folding iron sights. All located in the conventional positions.

Personally I don't go for all the added on gadgets on an AR but it's your rifle to do with as you wish.

My SHTF AR is a mid length Armalite with an A2 upper, stock iron sights. Nothing to break, fall off or anything that needs batteries to operate.

Way ahead of you. The laser is in the Crimson Trace for-end grip, with a flashlite. The low power optic is a Leupold pistol scope and not variable.

I came here looking for criticism as I'm aware things may be a little much. I take the advice and comments fine, and the comedians have been tasteful, so no problem.

You're certainly right; it doesn't matter what someone else thinks. However, because ARs are easy to accessorize, I think many may be completely unaware of how well these guns work just as they come from the factory. From reading many posts on this topic, a lot of buyers have a mental picture of what they want their gun to look like even before purchase.

A good suggestion to all potential buyers, especially the first timers might be to put a few hundred rounds through a new gun before doing anything to it. You might decide some dreamed-about accessory is actually worthless for your purpose, while another item you were previously unaware of is what you really want. Or you may decide you like the gun as it was designed with no changes. YouTube isn't always the answer. Don't t get in a hurry. Make educated decisions. You'll be way ahead of many others.

My AR has an Aimpoint PRO and a small lightweight light added. I changed it from 556 to .300BLK and added a suppressor. That Is the best modification I’ve done.
