I have a Bisley that is quite well worn. I'd like to get it back in good working order, but would much prefer to hand deliver it rather being at the mercy of shipping companies.

Anybody know of a capable gunsmith who is knowledgeable of the workings of the old Colts?

Jim Martin over on the Colt Forum mentions Bill Kelly over in Harriman, Tn for Colt SAA. But that was several years ago so no idea if he is still in business. Jim himself is one of the finest but you would have to ship to Arizona. Good luck, unfortunately they are a fading breed.

I don’t know Bill but live near Harriman and did an internet search. I’d say there’s a pretty good chance he’s connected to the cowboy action shooting group at the range I belong to. Google Oak Ridge Sportsman’s Assoc (ORSA) and contact Byrl Adkisson or the secretary. Byrl is over SASS and can probably give you contact info.

Good to know he’s in the area. There’s also Hamilton Bowen who lives in Maryville Tn, Blount County and may be one of the best gunsmiths in the country. I don’t know if he works on Colt but he’s the tops in Ruger. He comes highly respected. I know his brother and understand Hamilton is always pretty far backed up.

In searching the colt forum Jim posts a number for Bill…… 865 2359272, no idea if it is a working number or not……good luck.

I may give him a try. I saw that while googleing. I was hoping somebody here worked on them, or personally knew someone who did.

Thanks!

He's in Medina, OH ,,,IIRC
I don't see the address on his website for some reason. You have to call or email
Likely not a short drive to drop it off, but about the only ones I could think of right off,,and one of the best.

He's usually at the OGCA shows. Been at it a long time.
He posts on the Colt Forum usually in the SAA section as 'jplower'
