BDA in 38 Super
Here is one pretty rare Sig P220 pistol. This is a Browning BDA in 38 Super from 1977. One of only about 750 made. This gun is pristine, and appears unfired. Came with the box and manual. Definitely one of the coolest guns that I have had the good fortune to become the caretaker for.

BDA
One of my friends bought a couple when they were new. I've never seen any others. I don't think he ever shot them. Nice score.

Very cool OP- IMO .38 Super is one of the greatest cartridges out there. The demand for them seems to have gone thru the roof also.

Nice catch... I had a chance back in the 1980s to buy one of the last Browning BDAs in .38 Super that was imported...but I passed...
SIG began importing these and later had the Americanized model with a 1911 style magazine release. Was at the SIG Academy in 1998 for an ammunition seminar and got to shoot the last one that they still have there...
Nice guns...Bob

I understand that the mags are pretty pricy. Hopefully you can locate some at reasonable price! Enjoy your shooter!!

I have a Sig P220 in .38 Superauto that I purchased from a private party. The frame is virtually identical to a P220 in 45acp, but the barrel is marked 38 Super. The gun was worked on by a fairly well-known smith in the Houston area known as "Actions by T" and you can see his mark on the barrel.
I don't know if this pistol started out in life as a 38 super or was converted. The two magazines that came with it are not marked with either caliber or a maker's mark but perfectly hold 38 Super ammo. The after market sights are, I believe, also done by the gunsmith.
Edited to add: I found a serial number list on the sigforum that had these known pistols:
G228-7XX-KE-1994-38super
-G228-9XX-KE-1994-38super
My pistol is G228-704-KE so it seems more likely to have started out in life as a 38super.

They also came in 9MM and .45 ACP as well. Magazines are out there, but they are not inexpensive, at least in 9MM and .38 Super.
I not seen one in .30 Luger, but have read a few were imported.
Don't lose that lanyard loop, pretty nearly made of unobtainium.

I have 4 mags in 38 super and six for a 45acp model. I'm not really a Sig collector, but I do have a few of the early West German models.

Massad Ayoob said he purchased one, realizing they weren't selling.
