LGS here in Switzerland is selling this gun from his personal collection. I’ll apply for a special permit (since it’s full auto) and buy it in a few weeks. I didn’t know this model so made some internet research and found gun Jesus’ description and videos

« The HK51 is not a gun that was ever actually produced by Heckler & Koch. It is instead a variation on the G3/HK91 originally developed by American H&K specialist Bill Fleming. He was contracted by a UK-based company called FR Ordnance to produce a submachine gun sized version of the G3 for British SAS and SBS use. Both agencies did actually buy a few examples, and used them a few times operationally. Some testing was done on specialty ammunition for them, but they were ultimately replaced by the rather more practical HK53 (essentially the same gun but in 5.56mm).

Where the HK51 saw most of its sales was on the US recreational market, with both Fleming and others making the guns, often in combination with registered H&K auto sears. With full-power 7.62mm NATO ammunition and all of an 8.3 inch barrel, the HK51 serves best as an attention-getter on a range full of other machine guns… »

It’s obviously based on a Portuguese made G3 from March 1963 (FMP - Fabrica Militar de Portugal)

Anyone here knows more about these ?

In any case it’ll go well with my MP5

I have fired a 51 that a buddy owns and I will say it does get your attention. The muzzle blast is terrific. I do own a 53 and thought it was loud until the 51 experience. Other than recreational, I can hardly imagine a practical use for a 51.

Cool. But definitely one of those “Just because…” kind of guns.

I’ve only fired the standard G3 on full-auto and did not find that to be a pleasant or productive way to use up ammo. No idea what problem the SAS and SBS thought they were solving with this thing :)

DSA FAL Pistol - Close but still a Cigar....

That HK51 is pretty cool, but watching the video just hurt.
We mere mortals here do not have access to full-auto anything (congrats on yours!), but I tell you what, my DSA FAL pistol certainly gets one's attention, the .308 fired out of a 8.25" barrel gets your is - ah - noticeable......
Can't imagine holding on to 20 rounds at full auto ....... wow.

Here's a photo from the web of what mine looks like pretty cool little noise/concussion maker.. :)

Bill Fleming made a number of cool full auto creations. The 51 is LOUD and throws a big muzzle fireball. If I remember correctly he passed on a few months back in an auto accident.

Back in the late 70's I remember Shotgun News having ads from Volmer (I think that's right) of short barrel HK 91 conversions, photos of nothing but fire/blast coming from the barrel, rather impressive.....

A friend of the family has a transferable HK53 in the A4 configuration. Just shooting it with a berm or wall in front or beside you can get you SMACKED HARD! The dealer of that gun thought he was struck by a ricochet but was just back blast from the 223.

I was told that the 308's were good SWAT Entry/Suppression guns. After the flash bang, follow up with repeated bursts fired at the top of the wall, just to keep everybody on the floor!

It took a bit longer than anticipated, as I ended up buying four FA rifles and arranged all the paperwork / permits and funds in one go (others were the already shown HK 33, M2 carbine and M14 rifle).

But its finally home

It came with three mags, the 20 rds being as old as the gun

LOL, yeah I hate when my full-auto paperwork is delayed.
On the bright side, they'll look great under the Christmas tree.

Enjoy!

Very cool. Haven't shot one, just our poor semi auto variants here in the States. But I did shoot a full stock MP5 overseas and was quite impressed. I could make a ragged hole at 50m with a 30rnd stick mag...while the longest range I could keep a 3 round burst from a M16A2 on target was about 25m (and that was with pointing at the kidney). 9mm is just far more controllable in FA.

Owned a HK-91 once, and shot another one with the telescoping stock. The telescoping stock was a pain machine, with the regular buttstock much more controllable/comfortable. And that was in semi-auto only. Really appreciated the HK sights, but too many steps to resize the brass. A regular buttstock should be cheap and easy, ya may want to consider trying one.
