Miroku Winchester 1873
Just splurged on this beauty, I'm a sucker for a pretty rifle. Awesome Color case hardening and very nice fiddle grain black walnut stock, 45 Colt. Does anyone have one, and actually shoot it?

I have a few of the Miroku manufactured J.M.Browning designs, but my 1873 modern copy is from Italy. Mine is in 44 Special and has a "Semi-Short" action job. The bolt throw is around 1.75 inches (or a little less) and the effort to operate the action is a twitch of the ring finger. It is so sweet!
The Henry, 1866, and 1873 actions have a action the is weak design with Black Powder (that is why the 73 went to the steel frame) but with modern steels, they are fine with factory ammo pressures. Just don't run Rugar loads and you'll be fine for a hundred years! (If you have the need for speed (Rugar Loads), pick up a Rossi 92 in 45 Colt, they can handle those and a lot more.

We have a Miroku '92 in 45 Colt and it gets shot.
It has some deer pictures scratched on the receiver.
Found it on GB not long ago and it was minty, as advertised, and was about $600 plus overnight shipping.
That and a minty 9422 and a NOS '94 in 44 Mag was about 2K for all three.
I guess we lucked out in triplets.
One for the grandkids, one for the kids and the 45 Colt stays in Florida.

I have a 1892 Miroku Winchester in 45 Colt.
With it's 16" barrel it is pretty handy, and a great shooter to boot.

I have a ‘92 trapper and a ‘73 SRC both in .357. I run light .357 mag loads, 5.5 gr Unique under 158gr rnft. The ‘92 cycles the longer case better, the ‘73 doesn’t really care.

The 1873 is my favorite hands down. I know Uberti and Miroku do a great job with the walnut and bluing of the guns. Love those butt plates especially. Real treasures to own.

I had a '92 Deluxe Sporting Take-down in .45 Colt that was fun. I decided to use the take down feature one day, and put a spiral scratch down the mag tube. After that, it was like the girl that just cheated on you. Still kinda pretty to look at, but time to send her packing. I sold it and got a Uberti '73 Deluxe Sporting. I've always preferred the '73 action for low pressure rounds anyway.

I had one, the CDNN 1873 Winchester Miruko 16" trapper in 45 Colt - #167 of 300. It had the curly maple stock, octagonal bbl and CCH metal - beautiful.
I shot it a few times with my reloads and factory ammo and it functioned as designed. The fit and finish were flawless. I brought it to a gun show in November to show off. Only at the show an hour before some kind soul offered me $2800. Since I only paid $1300 and change, me and my 1873 rapidly parted ways.

I’ve got a NIB Mikoru 1895 takedown in 30.06 with what sounds like the same case hardened receiver. Haven’t fired it yet however, the quality seems wonderful as well as the fit and finish!

Sounds super nice, but we need to see pictures to verify! Did you find it at a gunshow or local shop?
I love to see the CCH on these type rifles. Please post close up pictures.

miroku 1973
Sorry folks, I'm too old school,(old) to learn how to post pics. E mail is about the limit of my techno skills. I don't even have a digital camera.
Thanks for the replys. Bought the rifle on a whim. I also have the Miroku 1896 Browning BPCR in 40-65, and a CPA rifle schutzen in 32-40. It was too pretty to pass up.
This was a good deal on a trade, new in the box. Looking forward to shooting it, but will not over due the loads, lead bullets only.

Yes! Also 1873 45 Colt. I shoot it occasionally on beautiful days at my backyard range. I think I enjoy looking at it more and wiping it down lol. They are superbly made by Miroku. I use my reloads as well.

Don’t think I’ve handled a miroku. I have a real ‘73 winchester musket [1891] but the other 3 toggles are Italian imports. A ‘66 musket, a ‘73 that i redid as a ‘76 Centennial lookalike and a pretty 20 inch rifle. This is what the 20 inch was before getting a rebarrel and action job.

Team Miroku
Congratulations on the Miroku Winchester 1873 45Colt.
I have looked over and handled that Model, what
outstanding craftsmanship, fit and finish!
Only Winchester wished they could had made something
like that.
Years ago I wanted an original Winchester 1895.
Looked at quite a few but, in the end wasn’t sure
if my face wouldn’t get blown off.
I ended up with two Miroku Win 1895s; a 30-06
Sprg and 270win. Unbelievable craftsmanship.
I actually shoot them, and they are safe.
The Best to you and your Endeavors.

miroku 1873
Thank you all for the comments. I feel better about splurging on this great looking rifle, at first I had a somewhat guilty feeling for treating myself to it. My son has already claimed it, sight unseen. I'm 70 years old, hopefully he will be waiting a long time. The wood, CCH and workmanship is awesome. I have a bunch of 250 grain lead flat point loads made up for my blackhawk using Universal clays, mid strength loads. They should work well.
Can't wait for a none wet sunny day to try it out. Will most likely start at 50 yards then move to 100.

They have for a long time. Of all the 1873 models they make, the 44 Mag is the only chambering that has a modified action. Unless you build a 45 Colt on one of these rifles, stay away from "Rugar Only" loads!

I’ve got a few Miroku rifles (1873 in .357, 1885 in .45-70, 1885 in .22 WMR, 1886 in .45-70, & 1892 in .45 Colt, all purchased before I retired) and I can honestly say I don’t own any firearms that are any finer. Blued steel and walnut is as good as it gets...

I have this Winchester/Miroku Model 1892 in .45 Colt to go with my USFA Single Action in .45 Colt. I like them both.

I bought an 1892 short rifle in .357 last year. love it! it is picky about OAL in cartridges..after you dial it in, .38 reloads shoot fine..I looked at an 1873..looks like a fine rifle also, probably less ammo picky...that's a fine rifle, enjoy it!

We do not see many of those Mikorus around here. I like the take down feature.

I have an 1873 Miroku Short Rifle in .357 magnum. Doesn't have the case color receiver, but it's still a beauty. I added a Marble's tang mounted peep sight to mine.

Miroku made the Winchester 1886 for both Browning and USRAC. I bought the USRAC take down, 45.70, for myself as a 50th birthday present. Beautiful workmanship. The steel plate crescent butt stock gave me pause though. Wound up selling it about twelve or so years later.
Miroku, interestingly enough, also makes wooden steering wheels for luxury cars.

Miroku builds beautiful rifles. Thanks to the posters. Steel crescent buttplates look good but don’t feel good, I simply put a nice cover on mine.

For all of you folks that have bought one of these CCH Miroku 1873's, is there one place better than another to buy one, or are they all the same price no matter where you buy them like many other guns?

While looking around online, I see some people talking about the CCH having a tendency to rust easily. Have any of you experienced this? I know you can obviously wipe them down with an oily rag, but can you Rennasiance Wax these areas to protect them? Thanks.

They are great guns, along with the Uberti model.
The Uberti is actually slightly more authentic as it doesn't have that firing pin safety that the Winchester has (Weird that the Italians are building more authentic American repros than Winchester is ).
I have an Uberti in 44-40 because I like shooting black powder. Hopefully you get a chance to do that!

I have a Winchester/Miroku 1873 in .45 Colt. I love it. The action is smooth and the fit and finish is excellent. I use it for cowboy action shooting. No problems so far. It has a 20” round barrel and a crescent butt. What’s not to like?

Nice rifle. I'm in the market for a 92 but Miroku/Winchester has some supply problems of late. Nobody has any and those you see on the auction sites are older ones that command some pretty steep prices.
When things get back to normal I'll have a Miroku rifle in 44 mag.

I shot my first deer around 1965 with a Win 95 SRC. All I remember about it was it was chambered for 30-40 Krag, had the long range ladder sight and that sucker was heavy. It belonged to my dad and was stolen after I enlisted in 67.
