Pocket Knives

I think the pocket clip for folding knives is the best invention since sliced bread! It seems about half the time when I need my knife I have some mess all over my hands and don’t want to stick them in my pockets to fish out a folding knife.

PS. Good for vest pocket too!

I've found certain folder styles and their clips seem more prone to catching on something and being lost than others. I like a thin knife and deep clip if I am using that feature. Right now a carry favorite is a Kiser leaf blade flipper with a flush clip - stays put, and is thin and light weight.

Most of the pocket knives I own don't have clips on them. The few that do I leave the clips on.

This thread is absolutely bizarre world to me! Nothing worse than a pocket knife orienting itself in whatever awkward position it can get itself into when it's running loose in a pocket. Clips forever, and I'd probably use my SAKs a lot more if I had clips for them too.

I avoid getting knives with clips, and I get ones with a lanyard hole.
Then I take some cord and make a lanyard that is long enough to drop the knife to the bottom of my pocket.

But, I use that length to pass around a belt loop, then slip my knife through that loop. And then I drop it into my pocket, so that it is held by a closed loop. I haven’t lost a knife yet by using that method.

If there is stuff in my pocket, then I pull on the lanyard, and viola, my knife comes up. And it’s easy to get loose and use that way.

I carry a CRKT with clip and 1/2 serrated blade as my utility/work knife. I carry a Kershaw spring loaded with clip when not able to carry a firearm. That said , I have recently discovered the wonder that is the Opinel #7. Razor sharp inexpensive deep pocket. It’s a work of art in its simplicity. Like a S&W K frame uh……… I mean potato chip, I can’t have just one. I see a #10 carbon blade in my future.

I have carried on the clip for years, and lost several knives that way. Now I look for old USA made Schrade SP-2 knives to drop in my pocket. The Imperial Schrade knives are made in China. I do not buy or use Chinese knives. S&W knives are Chinese too.

However, the SP-2 weighs nothing and works fine. Sometimes I carry a small Microtech switchblade

The clipped knife I keep in my left pocket for easy accessibility when I can't reach my Buck 110 in a sheath with my right hand so no matter what I have access to a knife at work.

I never remove the clips and I even sometimes use them but mostly I carry the knives loose in vest pockets. That's what vest pockets are for! ;)

Same here!

I carry a CRKT and I use the clip. When I pull it from my pocket it's positioned perfectly in my hand, and with one little "flick of the switch" it's opened and ready for whatever task I need it for.
