Sure not going to disagree with a founding member of LAPD SWAT, interesting video on a legendary scattergun none the less.

Sorry, cant seem to post link. Search You Tube for Uncle Scotty Ithaca M37.

While I love my Ithaca stakeout I can't disagree with anything he said.

Maybe no one will want to disagree with a "founding member of the LAPD SWAT"....but...

No matter what Scotty says, I still love my Ithaca 37.:)

I love the old Ithaca 37 riot guns. I have a US marked Viet Nam five shot, a trench style (with handguard and bayonet lug) that I got from a department I worked for back in the late 60's and early 70's, A marked long tube from that same department, a long tube with marine finish, another short tube I picked up somewhere, and a long tube marked LSP. That one started with Louisiana State Police, ended up at Angola Penitentiary, and I got it from the guy who got it from them. One reason I like the Ithaca is it bottom ejects and I shoot long guns left handed. The other is they were/are well made and very dependable. All of mine are slam fire. I didn't get these shotguns in one place. I picked them up over the years. I have several other types and brands but I favor the Ithaca. I've been looking for a Stakeout for decades but haven't been lucky enough to find one, even though a friend let me shoot his a few days ago.

....a founding member of LAPD SWAT,....

"Scotty" is old but he ain't that old........

Adding, now that I watched the video:
In a class, officers with Ithaca shotguns showed that shells can be loaded directly into the chamber, contrary to Scott Reitz' statement. It is easier with an 870, however.
