Just brought home this new Beretta 1301 Tactical in Flat Dark Earth. She's a semi auto and, I've never ever held a better feeling shotgun before. What's really cool too, is that you can change chokes in it as well. Very versatile.
But again, it feels absolutely amazing in hand.
Prolly not so much shooting 3" 00 Magnum Buckshot but, nonetheless it's a very nice little 12 gauge.
Gotta say, it's one of those things that I am just so glad I went ahead and bought. I think it weighs less than 6 pounds too.....and the trigger is super light. She's gonna be super fast...
Anyways, here's a pic & thanks for letting me share.

I have one of those in the same color. It totally rocks. I have owned pump shotguns before, this is my first semi. Have taken it out to the range and found it to be reliable and so much fun. It would not shoot oo buck with a velicity pf 980 fps, but everything else is good. You and anyone else who gets to shoot it are going to be grinning all day long.

That's sounds awesome! Thank you.
I hear ya man, this is my first semi auto as well.
I've shot them before but, have never bought one until now. I'm really glad I did too. It feels so dam good in hand

I have one in black. Its a great shotgun. I am amazed at how light it is. It is fully two pounds lighter than a Benelli M4.

I have the earlier version 1201FP. Great reliable item and not really bad recoil regardless of load. Only downside to autos is that there is no way to use it for HD unless rd in the chamber with hammer cocked, safety on. No way to have loaded mag with hammer down on empty chamber and still be "ready" like a pump. Joe

That's a good point.
Semi Auto Shotguns are like a 45 Auto in that sense.
Plus, there truly are a huge psychological advantage of a perp or bad guy or whatever hearing a 12 gauge pump shotguns being racked!
There's no other sound like it lol...

I have the Benelli M4 for HD.

Fully loaded, safety on.

I have no intent of giving up my position by making a noisy *** racking sound.

Bad guy may or may not hear the safety go off

That's a great addition to your collection. I've only seen one in my LGSs and it was an OD Green model. I got to hold it and was also impressed with how light it was. I then did a little research and watched the TFBTV video review on the 1301 and vowed I'd get one someday. Congrats that your day arrived!

NCSHP dumped these at the local cop shop.
Some members here scored them also.

That looks like the latest version of the 1301 Tactical
Did the Highway Patrol switch to another shotgun or?
I remember when working for my Police Department, we went Raleigh to the NCSHP - I believe it was Patrol Basic School, at any rate, I think their Armory may be there as well. But, reason we went their is to get some rifles they were giving away. I can't even remember what rifles they were! That was in 1993. May have been some Mini 14's.
At any rate, what Shotgun does the Patrol use now?

Right.....gotta say, I reckon it depends on the situation...( if they are armed and lookin to kill or whatever ) but as in most cases a common burglerer- .....if I can at all help from killin some poor ole person, I will & racking a pump shotgun will make some stop dead in their tracks.....unless of course their some sort of TV tough guy and all that...lol.

Lol, since we're all having fun talkin about shotguns, I gotta say that one of the most scared times in my life was in the Police Academy/BLET ( Basic Law Enforcement Training in N.C.) as part of training we were tasked with clearing an old barn at dusk- VERY low light, actually you could call it night - while looking for an escaped and armed convict - and armed with a dam shotgun!
Now, we even knew ahead of time that the instructor that played the armed convict had blanks in the shotgun, but my God in Heaven you have no idea how scary that was lol, because we knew we were probably gonna get nailed....and some did. That shotgun blast in the dark like that was so scary lol, adrenaline or no.....at any rate, Ill.never forget that night....

It is the next to last version of the 1301 Tactical. There have been some changes.

I believe these were the last shotguns for the NC SHP. They have issued rifles to the troopers for some years, but I heard they have decided to no longer issue shotguns to rank and file troopers. I believe NC Training and Standards has dropped the requirement that shotguns be included in Basic Law Enforcement Training, so many agencies are moving totally to rifles.

The SHP armory is at the SHP Training Academy on Garner Road in Raleigh.

Law Enforcement Support Services was transferring weapons from the US Military to law enforcement during that period. The guns, at that time, were probably M-14's. They were also transferring vehicles and just about any other equipment they could get their hands on. LESS was a section of the old NC Department of Crime Control and Public Safety (as was the NC SHP) and they were probably storing the guns at the SHP armory.

The deal on the Beretta's was pretty good. The first group were sold for $700 and now they are going for $800. I bought two of the first group. A friend bought three.

At that price it is far and away the best value semi auto shotgun anywhere. I paid 1200 and was happy to do so.

Excellent info! Thank you 🙂
That's wild Training & Standards no longer require the shotgun!
Again, thank you.

Glad that you got it in, now head out to the range! I have really enjoyed shooting my 1301 Tactical LE!

I really believe it will be one of the best firearms I've ever bought. Hope you grab one!
