Default 17 Remington

Does anyone still have and shoot this caliber? It is a necked down 223 case with 17 caliber bullet. I bought one way back when they were first introdoust (sp). It was a Model 700 BDL Remington and was very accurate with my handloads.

I thought they were a 222 Mag case necked down to 17, But maybe I'm thinking about the 204 Rugar case.

Ballistic accuracy was never the issue! But bean field winds blew them all over, beyond 150 yards! Same with the 204. One of the reasons they are memories and 222, 223, 222 Mag and 22-250 are still "Harvesting" Parrie Dogs, Marmots, Rock Chucks and Ground Hogs (a,k,a, Wood Chucks)!

I own a .17 Remington 700 BDL sporter in a synthetic stock. The original owner had somehow broken the original stock, didn’t like the synthetic replacement and traded it in. I bought it off the counter; it never hit the rack.

I have had one of the 700VS (varmint synthetic) for more than two decades . . . super accurate rifle

We went rifle shooting Today and I almost took that one with me. At this moment it is in a travel case leaning against the wall in my study

I took my .223 700PSS instead because I had recently moved some scopes around and I wanted to sight the new rifle/scope combination in.

I always thought it was amazing that we can launch a grain of rice a 4000 FPS

I have a 16" contender bbl. The price was right but the cartridge needs more bbl than I have.
