I suggest and recommend just full synthetic
motor oil. Cost runs $3.00 to $5.00 per quart.

The main point you want is an oil that doesn’t
gum up, full synthetic motor oil does that
for me, from guns, ram on reloading press,
knives, and anything that needs protection
and lubrication.

other than its color is dark used crank case oil will work just as good and its free

Most of the new lubricants have some form of stay in place additive which (for lack of a better word) "slickens" the action. back in the day (and today too) LCP uses Teflon type particles to do this after the liquid lubricant has dried or at least been dried from the surface of the wear point. Lucas oil has a new product out which I really like. Either the red or blue stuff works a treat.

I haven't seen $5 synthetic oil in a long while! But, regardless, If you use of few quarts in an oil change you'll have plenty of leftover dregs to oil your guns, knives and whatever. I just take the "empty" oil containers, turn them upside down in a container and let them drip for a few days. The drippings go into my needle oilers.

Call me a cheapskate if you like. I call myself frugal!

It is highly recommended on one of the knife forums I belong to. I purchased it for the reluctant action on an old switchblade. Did the job.

I have found that working a knife action with Cutting Oil until free - + permanent lube with light Mobil 1 - after rising knife with mineral spirits - to remove cutting oil. Works very well indeed.

FYI - newest switchblade design uses coil spring @ pivot pin of blade to open even large blade really fast = got to hold on tight - but thrilling. see photo.

I cannot see your link. But I think you will talking about kpl Knife pivot lube.I heard about it from a friend who used to be a knife dealer.I had two auto knives I could never get to work reliably.A benchmade otf and a buck 110 auto I sent buck back once to distributor it came back the same.Benchmade i bought from a young cop just back from afganistan it would not open unless pointed down and gravity helping.A few small drops of kpl and they started working.I now carry benchmade infidel every day at work as a last ditch plan.I too was skeptical but it works. New inventions and formulas can be a improvement over what you have always done.
