Default Tranter model 1868

I have just waited a half year on this revolver. Did import it from Germany. This is a Tranter model 1868 in .450. Is a competiter to the Webley RIC, wich was adopted by the Royal Irish Constabulary in 1868. The actual year of manufacture is not know. Info is quit bad and I do have to figure that out to. But next year in june is my retirement. I do not think that i get bored.

The Tranter is like new. Only the colorcasehardning on the cilinder is a bit fainted. The barrel and cilinderchambers are very shiny.
Love this piece of British History. The trader was Kerr. Also a well known name in British gunhistory.
I did put a couple of pictures of the Webley RIC with this post. Alde this is a bit later version. The Metropolitan Police also in .450.

Congratulations! It looks to be in very nice condition. While I’ve never owned or fired one I’ve always though the Tranter revolvers quite nice.

Cool sidearm.

I have been viewing a series on You Tube by C&Rsenal that reviews firearms prior to World War I. You may be able to find some information about the Trantor.

Tranter revolvers were used to some extent by the Confederacy during the American Civil War. I have seen some of them, but not recently.
