I just got an email showing this "new" pistol..

If it is legal, the ten inch barreled AR pistols with an "arm brace" must be legal?

OR, is the law selective,, based on ,,,,,,Hmmmmmmmmm,,,?

It is an ENV-HMR from Volquartsen,, you can read about it at their site,,

I just don't get it,,
The photo of it being held at the Volquartsen site shows the guy holding the arm brace against his shoulder.
The same in the video,, clearly against the shoulder.

What is your opinion as to it being legal??

NOTE:,,,, I did not even discuss that "nubbie" hanging down off the forearm,,, That is the same as the "Arm Brace??

It’s a pistol. Arm braces are still legal and not considered an NFA item… at this point. The ATF has changed their ruling on them several times and it’s currently legal to shoulder one. A while back, they said you couldn’t shoulder a brace. That was inconsistent with other AFT rulings, so they reversed that decision.

A new proposed rules change that would reclassify most of them as NFA items is in currently in limbo.

You can read more about it here > ATF Worksheet 4999

How are law abiding guns owners supposed to know what's legal and what's not when the ATF doesn't even know? Or at least can't make up their minds or keep changing their minds. Make a (lawful) command decision already! I don't get it. Anyway, that 'nubbie' thing you mentioned is a hand stop/barricade support device.

Make a (lawful) command decision already!

Problem is the Executive Branch of the government (ATF, other agencies, and the President) cannot make law… just enforce it.

The Legislative Branch (Senate and House of Representatives) are who are supposed to make changes.

And the Judicial Branch (courts, to include the Supreme Court) interpret the law and make sure the other two Branches aren’t going rouge… like what happened with the previous EPA decision.

The legality is based on who's bringing them cookies that particular week?

The thing that drives me the craziest is when somebody (or in many cases thousands of people) can legally buy a product, and then at a later date, that same product can be deemed illegal. Especially when these products are relatively expensive, and there is no recourse to recoup your money. To me, and I know I am nuts, if the government decides a formerly legal product is illegal, they should either grandfather in the legal purchasers or buy the product back fro the legal purchasers! JMHO.

If it's sold by any legitimate FFL Holder, then it's legal.

Firearms manufacturers know better than to sell something that could be illegal without going over it with a legal team and often times consulting the ATF just to be sure.

I still remember how way back in 2017 folks were all questioning how the Mossberg 590 Shockwave could possibly be legal because it's totally a Short-Barrel Shotgun, regardless of the fact that each Shockwave shipped with a copy of the ATF Letter Mossberg had received which identified it as a "Firearm" by law and therefore was perfectly legal, and folks continued to assert that it would be reclassified shortly as a SBS with everyone foolish enough to purchase one forced to relinquish theirs to the ATF as they went door to door collecting Shockwaves.

Meanwhile, here we are, Five years later... The 590 Shockwave is still legal, still classified as a Firearm, and as far as I know nobody has ever even raised a stink about it within the anti-gun community or tried to get it reclassified. Evidently it flew right under their radar because they only care about; "High Capacity Fully Semiautomatic Assault Weapons" leaving the Shockwave completely unnoticed.

I currently own two firearms which folks have said "cannot possibly be legal" in the past, a Taurus Judge Magnum as well as the aforementioned Mossberg 590 Shockwave.

Me thinks folks are just a bit too paranoid over guns being illegal these days.

So yeah, as long as someone isn't trying to sell you a firearm out of the trunk of their car, on a shady website, or at a warehouse down by the docks with a special features at no additional charge like their Serial Number being filed off and no paperwork required, then it's probably legal.

Volquartsen… just looked on their website. From $1,354!?!

That is hilarious! Zero chance in hell I’d buy one. I like Volquartsen, but it’s a braced Charger. It is a 10/22. Why would I spend that much on one?

If you need a .22 braced pistol… S&W M&P15-22 Pistol. Better controls, better features.

PSA - M&P 15-22 Pistol
