In theory, I've been a fan of HK firearms for many years. I fell in love with the model 270 in advertisements while reading Guns and Ammo in the early '80s.

I bought a USP45 in 1996 and still own it. Until recently, it has been my only HK.

Last week I picked up a P2000SK with the LEM trigger. I have been looking for a sub-compact for a while and this was at an LGS.

My typical carry is either a Glock 19 or a 442. With the world being what it is today, I was looking something smaller than the G19 but with better capacity than the 442. Here in CA, we have limited options based on what is on the approved roster. I could have gone with a Glock 26, but it just hasn't clicked for me.

I was completely unsure about the LEM trigger, but the trigger system was pretty transparent to me. I do have a fair amount of time DA on J frames, so that likely has something to do with it.

I put 200 rounds through it on its first range session. Impressively accurate for a subcompact when I shoot it with a standard two-hand grip. I have more work to do one handed. Somehow I shoot it better weak-hand than strong-hand only.

Congratulations. Is it a 9mm or .40cal?

I've had some interesting observations. People are pretty split on the pinky extension magazine bases. I ordered a couple of flat bases during my 10 day waiting period. After shooting the pistol, I prefer the the pinky extension. Unfortunately, they snag when I lift standard cover garments during my draw. I don't mind shooting with the flat bases and this is a situation where concealment wins.

The world of HK triggers can get a bit confusing (especially with LEM). This particular pistol came as a V2 (heavy LEM). After shooting it, I do not think I am interested in the Light LEM, but I might swap the Firing Pin Block spring for the one from the "light" configuration.

As my results have been pretty positive so far, I ordered a Lobo Gunleather Offset Belt Clip IWB holster. Now I just have to get it added to my carry permit. In CA we have to qual with each firearm and they are listed by serial number on the permit.

Sorry to hear that you are living in such an Anti 2nd-Amendment environment. It should not be that restrictive for you to choose to defend your life or the life of another in that rare instance when you turn out to be on the wrong turf

I too have been a BIG fan of the USP family of auto loaders since they came out. They top two pistols are my USP9 and USP45 both of which have serial numbers in the low 600s and yes I still have both of them. While I have sold half the pistols from this first picture, I have added way more than that over the years

The P200SK is far more accurate than such a small gun has a right to be. I ordered mine because even though they had just been introduced, the 357SIG chambering was about to be dropped, it is serial numbered very low as well. I am not a fan of the LEM trigger. I prefer a traditional DA/SA which is how I ordered this firearm

One of the nice features of the P2000SKs is that they can function with the longer magazines from the USP compacts. Since the compact magazines stick out farther some folks won't use them. Well the good old boys at X-Grip resolve that issue with one of their spacers.

I think it makes for a very elegant backup magazine. I carry a plain base for the initial magazine, but use the pinky base on the reload because it fits the contour of the X-Grip equipped magazine better, it also improves the one handed shootability of the little gun and if I am at the point of needing a reload, I want all the benefits I can get.

I have 2 full size DA/SA, rear button decocker, P2000's with factory trijicon night sights and FDE frames and black slides. I bought 2 because they feel great, shoot great and i love the FDE/black combo. My dealer said he had never seen them before so i bought them both. Until I saw these i didn't know HK even made and FDE frame version. Both are 9mm.
I had a P2000SK which was equally as awesome but mine was in .40 which was just a little too much from that platform in my opinion.
In 9mm it must be the perfect carry gun.
