I got this little "boy's" rifle at Tulsa this spring. It is one of many small single shot .22s that Winchester produced. This one is extra nice for a gun over a hundred years old. The wood and bore are nice and the mechanics are crisp and tight I think the style is classy with the schnable stock and the pistol grip metal trigger guard. The stock even shows some nice grain.

I collect Winchester single shot .22s and have at least one example of every model Winchester made. Not every variation, that would take two lifetimes.

The only accidental discharge I ever had was with a Winchester boy’s rifle. I do not remember the model, but it was the one that had the thumb trigger. Fortunately, no one was shot, but that experience remained with me for a long time. As I remember, it had no safety.

It is said that the thumb trigger model was an intellectual exercise by John Browning to see how simple and cheap a .22 rifle could be made. I remember reading that most of those made went to Australia.

This is it. Watch: Winchester Thumb Trigger Rifle - AllOutdoor.com
