Good looking trio. Been a fan of TC's for decades and usually have
atleast one in the rotation during hunting season.

I bought my first in 1982, a used 223 Super 14 and an original frame with a rail mounted 2.5x Phantom scope for $219. That barrel never did hit anything! I still have that frame and an Easy Open. Also about 13 barrels. I still like to plink and varmint hunt with 10" bull barrels in 221 Fireball and 22 Hornet.

In 1984 I bought and had Mag-na-ported a Super 14 44Mag That I load using Barns data for Original Bullet 300 grain (a little over Super Blackhawk Only loads) I would shoot concrete blocks on the end with 240 factory and Fist size pieces would fly 20 yards in all directions. I shot one on the end with a Barns 300, the end was staring at me with an 1 1/2" hole in it and no chunks flying! I figured a Through-N-Through! when I walked up, there was the end and the rest of the bock was vaporized (not even small pieces!)

My favorite "Odd-Ball" barrel is a 12" Hunter in 375 Winchester. The "Muzzel Tamer" muzzel break is amazing on reducing recoil! But the muzzel flash at dusk is like a beach ball sized bolt of lightning (& thunder) at the end of your arm. I like shooting old can goods at 50 to 75 yards and watching peoples faces when the smells smack you in the nose!

I have a friend with a Super 14" in 22 Hornet. He and I (10" Bull) were shooting fist size rocks around 200 yards (both guns scoped, mine 3X) They were just the same for accuracy!

I have 4- Super 14's They are a lot of extra weight you normally don't need (I do on the Barns Loads!) and for most handgun and varmint cartridges would stick with 10"

Ivan

I wanted a Leupold scope,,
This barrel was on eBay, with the scope,,
priced at what I was expecting to pay JUST for the scope,,
The barrel even came with the forearm,,

So, I have had it a couple years,, I even bought a box of ammo,,

Does someone want to stop by and shoot it for me??

It is a 35 Remington,,,

I have an Encore blue in 50 cal ML and a .222 barrel. One of my bucket list guns is an old school contender in a bigger cartridge.

Nice collection.

Got my first Contender in the late 70’s. Now have 3 frames, a rifle in 357 max, a 10” octagon in 38 special, a 8 3/4” MGM in 32 long and just bought a 10” octagon barrel in 9mm. The 9mm barrels are hard to find under 300 bucks, always wanted one.

The one picture with the peep sights is the .32 long MGM. Love the .32 caliber. Oops no picture of the MGM barrel. The pistol contenders are shot offhand at 50’ indoors. Larry

One of my stainless encore frames is wearing the original 50x209 muzzle-load barrel now. I passed on an easy 50 yard shot at a big spike buck, oh well maybe next year.

I had a variety of barrels and several frames years ago. Dennis Bellm made up a carbine rifle stock version with two barrels for me long before TC offered such.

While most combinations were quite accurate, I found the handgun versions awkward and heavy for hunting use. Some were almost as heavy as a much more manageable and useful lightweight rifle. I guess I never developed a liking for the break-open action in a handgun or carbine either. After several years, I got rid of everything and miss none of it.

My experience only and not a criticism of TC products or those who use them. I think many enjoy these guns. They're certainly well built and of good quality.

Contenders are kinda like a martini, inasmuch as ya' gotta acquire a taste for them.
I'm addicted!
...and I'm not looking for a remedy.
