I have a 20 ga 1100 I bought for my son in the early 1980’s.
I wouldn’t be interested in selling it for less than $1,000.

If you are gagging at those prices (I did) look at the Franchi Affinity line. That’s what my grandson wound up with. The Franchi was new and cost less than used Remingtons in northeast Georgia.

I'm assuming we're talking aboot an 1100, eh?
I just purchased an 11-87 12 ga light contour barrel with tubes for $900 in exl. condition. I know 20 ga goes for more money but not sure how much, maybe 2-300. I'd say $1100 depending on condition with choke tubes. That's what I would be willing to pay. The difference between any of the newer guns is the alloy receiver vs the steel receiver on the older Remington's. There's a reason they went out of business. Just cost more to build them with steel. Happened to all the American shotguns. Winchester, Ithaca and Remington were the standard in this country for a very long time. I have a 1970 Wingmaster that I just won't part with. First new shotgun I could afford.
You might be waiting a long time to find a friend or neighbor who just wants the cash without the hassles of dealers or advertising it. Lightning does strike people but not very often. I've sold a few that way and the buyer got a good deal. The buyer with the money was standing right in front of me. Sold.
None of this is relevant if you just want a lead delivery system.

You mentioned modified barrel, just the length? Does it accept the screw in chokes? If not, what is the fixed choke? What is your planned use? Upland bird hunting? Not the greatest for waterfowl, especially with the short barrel.

Wonder if that barrel was modified. Remington did make the 870 and 1100 called "Special Field" that did have 21 inch barrels later made with 23 inch barrels around 1994. Production started in 1984 I believe with the 21 inch barrels

I have 96%Remington 1100LT 20gauge with slug barrel ( bought as slug gun ) and picked up a 21” FC Special Field barrel. Hunters in my neck of the woods prize the older barrels. They don’t get excited over screw ins. I could get $1200 to $1400 for mine or I wouldn’t sell. Keep in mine a lot of prices on guns that are actually used for hunting can be regional.

Updated with answers and details
Thanks for the pricing advice.
I did not realize that my LT-20 with Rifle Sight Slug barrel and a Choate mag extension could be so valuable.
Seller does not mention interchangeable choke tubes.

Special Fields weren't marked as such, but they had straight stocks. I'm pretty sure the barrels don't interchange with regular 1100 Lt20 barrels.

1100 Special Field barrels, 12 & 20gauge will interchange with regular 1100 and in 20g 1100Lt. The 870 Special Field Barrels will not interchange with 870s because of short mag tube.
There are also some older 20s on 12g actions that have ******* barrels.* their own series barrels

Picked up a 20 ga special field straight stock and fixed IC choke for 650, 3 months ago. It needed the rings on the magazine tube.

Real nice guns those older 870 and 1100 models. Took em for granted back in the 70s and 80s with their walnut stocks and polished bluing. Used tobe able to pick them up on the used market for short money. not so much anymore I see. I bought a TB 1100 with 30 inch barrel new back in 80 for around $330. Rem-Arms is suppose to offer the 870 Wingmaster and 1100 again I understand but an 1100 may cost a grand. That newer 870 Fieldmaster looks much better than the Express with walnut and better finish even though it is a matte finish gun. Glad to see it retains a steel receiver.

If that is the upland model 1100 with straight stock and it's in mint shape I'd give a grand for it-but no more
