I'd put a cocked and locked single action in my pocket before I would a Glock or any other striker fired pistol that lacks a safety, but the reality is they are about the same. A light trigger pull in the pocket is a bad idea in my opinion. I've got a PPS in 9mm and 40 and while both might be ok for a pocket, the real benefit to these pistols is that they are so thin that with a kydex holster they are very comfortable inside the waistband. The same is true for j frames, ok for the pocket but with a clip style grip IWB is probably a better option. I have a Rohrbaugh 9mm (scaled up Seecamp) that is small enough I could see pocket carrying, but it's kinda on the heavy side (the Sig P290RS is similar but with its polymer frame is certainly lighter). While not a 9mm, I've found the Remington RM380 to be the best pocket carry option for me - though I do occasionally carry it IWB as well.

With a quality holster, there is no reason to worry about carrying a striker fired platform (especially the Glocks). Without a quality holster, pocket carry of anything is sub-optimal. I used to pocket carry a J frame and found it needed regular cleaning in large part because it was not in a good holster; the pace at which it accumulated dust bunnies was amazing.
Of course, this mode of carry also requires that you never have anything in the same pocket as the pistol. This is so ingrained in me that when I use a belt holster for some reason, it feels funny to have access to that pocket.

Why stand up???... or even attempt to draw while seated???
If in a restaurant, drop to one knee (the knee opposite your carry side being bent... preferably behind the table) and draw as normal.
As for me... Before the Shield came out, I daily pocket carried a PF-9. I've been easily Front Pocket carrying the Shield since 2012.

And yet if a complete study could be done on negligent discharges, Glock would overwhelmingly be the #1 offender (if for no other reason than because so many people carry them), and I have no doubt that ND's from a pocket would overwhelmingly be striker fired. I don't have a problem with striker fired guns (own a bunch of them), and no doubt a good holster is a requirement when carrying them, BUT there is absolutely no way they are as safe in a pocket as a DAO gun.

FWIW, I completely agree with Old Cop. Much as I like the P365, for me, putting it in my pants pocket does not work. It’s too heavy empty, and fully loaded even worse, but it makes an inconspicuous belt gun with a minimal type of holster, like Hume’s JIT Slide. Now in a winter coat pocket, yes, doable - but barely. I’d much rather have the gun on my belt.

Once again, Glocks are not your typical striker fired design. They are perfectly safe to carry chamber loaded in a pocket. All you have to do is follow the simple rule. Keep your finger off the trigger until you intend to fire the gun.

I have a CS9D I like in the pocket carry role.
It's DAO only design and the DA is not something that is going to get pulled on accident.
It's a square revolver.

When I need to pocket carry it's the Kahr CM9. Tiny enough to carry in tight jeans, and light enough to carry in baggy pants. The Sig P365 rides on my belt IWB.

Kahr CM9. Simple, concealable, affordable. There’s a new one for sale currently on this forum.

For me the P365 has been the ticket for 4.5 years now. Utterly reliable, ultra compact for pocket carry, super accurate, great night sights light weight, holds 11 rounds (10+1) with standard magazine, will take 18 rounds with extended magazine, a pleasure to shoot, manual ambi. safety, and backed up by a great Company. The FCG can be put into a bunch of different frames in minutes. What's not to like?

I have carried a CZ Rami in a pocket holster as well as Ruger LC9s, Taurus G2S, and Taurus GX4. The Rami is a bit too heavy for pocket carry as well as a bit large. The Ruger is light and fits well in my pocket, but I hate shooting it. The hard narrow grip just doesn't fit my hand, and it hurts to shoot. The G2S is roughly the size of the Ruger but a little wider. It shoots well and fits in my pocket, but the GX4 is slightly smaller and holds 11+1 v 7+1, so that's what I carry most of the time. It's in my Nemesis pocket holster right now.

Oh I'm sure you have some sure fired way to draw when in a car too with a pocket gun sitting too unless your handguns removed ahead of time !! Your way to draw by dropping to a knee when sitting in a chair would not cause you to be noticed quicker than drawing from somewhere on your waist , appendix or 3:30 forward canh be done with no odd body movement , same for in a vehicle . But each to there own as to how they want to CC'n, right.
For a lady's that have a need for a dress or skirt a good carry option might be a small 10 - 11oz pistol 380 or 9mm in a garter belt holster like with a ruger max or TCP 380 and are carried that way with my wife and daughters at times
I'll stay with a 3:00 iwb carry .

Pocket carry is an option that I would use on occasion in church, depending upon how I am dressed. With smaller guns I usually carry IWB but try to have holsters to accommodate a couple of different carry styles. That’s why I like Hidden Hybrid holsters.

I have a Kimber Micro 9 and a S&W CSX. I’d feel comfortable with either…the Micro 9 is marginally smaller as in narrower…and the CSX feels better in the hand.

One needs deep pockets for a Glock 43.
If shallower pockets the Sig 365 or a Beretta Nano.

I occasionally carry a SCCY CPX-1, and I really like it. I am not sure the CPX-1 model is still made, but it is without a doubt the safest pistol ever made. Pure DAO, pocketable, has a thumb safety which disconnects the trigger you can use or not as you choose, and it is completely drop-proof. It has a long and heavy trigger pull but you get over that quickly with a little practice. And mine is 100% reliable. It is probably the lowest priced 9mm pistol on the market. I think a .380 version is also available. Newer versions do not have the thumb safety and they come with a red dot sight. Not a target gun but fully adequate for close range PD use out to 10-15 yards. There are some aftermarket add-on improvements available that I have not tried but might be worthwhile. Hi-cap mags (15 and 32 rounds) are available. The standard mag is 10 rounds, double column, which is enough for me. I can hardly imagine using a 32 round mag in such a small pistol.
