Laugo Arms "Alien-Creator Editions" are Out

I'm not a rich man nor am I a competetive shooter, but I do have an appreciation for well designed and manufactuered pistols, especially those of unique and new designs.

My thinking exactly. All machines with novel operating systems fascinate me. Sadly, the Alien pistols are somewhat beyond my pay grade.

These pistols are essentially hand built and thus very expensive.

I guess I'll have to wait for the $500 Ruger/Turkish knockoff version.

My Zombie Defense was custom assembled,,
(no company would own up to assembling it, I guess)

I think it would go well with the Alien,,

At that price, Sonny Crockett should have used one on Miami Vice. I have to assume that it comes with a built-in laser tracking system to guide each bullet.

Hmmm... how many countries are there where you might be able to sell 500 $7,000 handguns? The USA would be the easiest. I'm trying to think of another...

Hey DWalt, I don't know how far south you are of Stephenville, but let me know if you get up this way and you can shoot my Alien. The only caution is that it might cause you to rob your cookie jar to start shopping for one.

And after you buy it and shoot it, you will not get half of that back.

Sounds you know nothing of the market. I more than doubled my money on my original Alien Signature.

And $7000 is relative. I’m fortunate enough through hard work to own several dozen pistols in this price range.

The secondary market for Aliens has been huge.

I have bought them when I saw a good price and flipped them. I have sold a Signature Edition Kit, a Black Edition Kit, a Standard Edition Kit, and two Performace guns for a profit of $10,800 after shipping costs and fees.

The market has settled down now and I am through speculating.

With my Standard Alien Kit and my Creator Kit and 6 extra magazines (12 total) I will have less than $2000 invested and I am happy with that.

Here is the last one I bought, and the price was significantly less. I doubt the accuracy is any better than the Sig Sauer P210 Target.

Have any of you who complain the price taken a look at the high end 2011 market lately?

You do understand that there are a LOT of $5-$10,000 pistols on the market, correct? The American P210 is simply a mass produced production pistol. I have one myself, along with many real Swiss and German models.

The German Super Targets bring Alien prices.

Watched a few videos about Alien pistols and came away impressed. They clearly put some thought into it, and the gun is not just cosmetically different. The barrel is fixed and uses a gas pressure delay. The sights sit atop a removable rail that holds the slide on, also providing a zero-movement stable base. The hammer is located in the rail (no it's not striker fired) and swings downward, and the barrel is in-line with the web of the hand. The frame is aluminum, trigger release is crisp little movement, with a super-short reset. Showing it being shot alongside a conventional layout handgun, the difference in muzzle rise - or lack thereof is quite noticeable.
The gun's design would be perfectly suitable for personal carry for those who can afford one.

My Creator arrive today and it reflects the same high quality the first Alien did. The grip angle is less severe and is more like the venerable 1911. The auxiliary grip panels are very aggressively textured. The rose colored trim is not distracting and strikes me as more tasteful than I feared from just photographs.

They are being delivered a little behind the initial estimates but I think definitely worth the wait. While this thread certainly shows that their style and expense is unattractive to many, I have no buyers remorse.

My Creator arrived yesterday and I have to say I'm impressed again with the quality and the completeness of the kit.

When I get time, I'll post some photos.
