I have a Super Blackhawk that I bought new back in 1973. Probably close to the end of production of the three screw models. Unconverted of course. I used it for Deer hunting with full power handloads, took a few. My Deer hunting days are over and I will use light cast bullet hand loads in it from now on. Much more pleasant to shoot. I also have four three screw Single Sixes, all unconverted. Ruger calls the conversion an upgrade, not hardly

Yep, own ‘em, like ‘em!
My 1956 flattop .357 three screw and 1958 flattop .44 Mag three screw. Also have an early Super Blackhawk three screw and a three screw .45 Colt.

I had a stainless engraved {factory Cylinder} .45 Colt Vaquero 5.5" Loved it but needed money for something else.
Wasn't that good of an idea because I ended up missing it.
Next round was a New Model Blackhawk 5.5" 45 Convertible. ACP rounds through it feel pretty mild. Not letting go of this one. Bob

I'v have had a few New Models: 22, 357, 41, 44, 45. Most of them regularly spit the base pins out while firing. I gave up on them. I would love to find an original in 41 or 45.

I have Blackhawks in 357 [6.5"], 44 Special [4 5/8", 45 Colt [4 5/8"]. The 45 came with dual cylinders and I bought and fitted a 9mm cylinder to the 357. I think you will like it if you buy it. Price is certainly a good offer.
I also have a SSM in 32 Mag, It is the only one I have that does not have a Belt Mountain base pin. I consider them almost a necessity.

Early 60's BH 357 conv to 45Colt.
Steel grip frame from Ruger BP revolver.
Bisley style hammer (Power Custom)
Steel ej hous'g
Ruger NM 45cal bbl 5 1/2". Tapered down, Encyclopedia instructions removed along with extra weight.
Orig cyl rechambered.
Custom trigger
Custom Target style front sight w/ flush gold bead.
Custom AmWal grips
Frame altered from Ruger BH Adj Site to S&W M&P fixed site style.
(no real reason for the last one. I just like the look,,it's a custom!)

A lot of work. but Great shooter
The project gun I had for 20yrs before I got around to it.
Orig idea was a 44spcl. But I happened to have a 45Colt reamer and the 45Ruger bbl fell in my lap one day,,so.
Accumulated the TG, Ejc Rd housing, donut ejc rod, etc over time in expectation
of doing up the thing.
Cost me $129 at buy time for the revolver itself as it had a single 'scope mt hole in the top strap (Bushnell mt?).

Shown in the white. It's been engraved and blued since. I don't seem to have those pics.

I had one with both the 357 & 38 spc cylinders & 7 1/2 inch barrel. Even with the target sights & tried a red dot, it would never outshoot my Colt New Service 38-40 revolver with plain old sights. The large heavy Colt impressed everyone at the range with it's accuracy.

For a single action .357, I really prefer the old 3-screw guns due to the smaller frame size. I have several Ruger Blackhawks, most have some custom work. The late John Gallagher built several for me. One old model flattop .357 is now a 4 5/8" barrel .44 Special, and a favorite lightweight bigbore packing pistol. My only current .357 Blackhawk is a 4 5/8" flattop with custom work by Dave Clements. I think you would really enjoy the Blackhawk you described. You can do a lot with a .357, wadcutters to deer killers and everything in between.

I have seen and owned Blackhawks with a .357 cylinder and a 9mm Luger cylinder, but never one with a .38 special only cylinder. Blackhawks in .357 usually have 4 5/8" and 6 1/2" barrels.

I've got a 4 5/8" 3 screw .357 that I absolutely love. I also just bought a stainless .44 Special Flattop. I can't wait to get my hands on it.

The mid-frame Blackhawk is a real sweet spot in size vs strength.

Only 1 Blackhawk here - Ruger Bisley Buckeye 10mm and 38-40. Single action 10mm representation in the collection. NIB.

About the only time it gets love is if I'm watching old westerns and need a klatcher in hand for full effect.
