Default FN Reflex?

I saw this gun at my LGS today and was curious if anyone had an experience with it good, bad, or in between. I think it's cool that it's a hammer fired micro 9 and the grip texture appealed to me as I enjoy aggressive grips. The only thing is that it is so new that extensive shooting of them has not been done.

To complicate matters, I have read that FN customer service has been slipping in recent years and that FN has a nasty habit of quickly abandoning guns that do not take off immediately. I know the P365 is the king of this class and has been tested extensively, I am just curious what you guys have experienced with FN or this gun more specifically.

Youtube videos of people trying to shoot this pistol accurately make for ugly viewing. Lots of low left shooting free standing. I cannot tell if it is poor sight regulation or a tricky trigger. I'd really like to find a clip with it fired from a bench rest.

I saw a video where they used a vice and the accuracy still had those problems. I'll link it here, because even if I don't get one the information should be available here.

Interesting video, if rather long-winded. Using the vice it's clear that the mechanical repeatability of the pistol is very good, so it has to be a sight setup and/or ammo issue.

My money is on this being a sight issue. The FN comment "We've had some back and they shoot dead on from our test rig" tells me that either:

1) One of their test rigs is out of whack

2) The person who they entrust to do the tests has some astigmatism and/or a macular pucker in their dominant eye.

Another slant on the accuracy issues.

Oh, and Hickok45 on Youtube didn't seem to have any issues.

One fix I've seen is fitting a #8 Sig rear sight which is taller than the stock item.

I agree... If the gun is grouping low left or right, high light or right, etc, while on a rest, it is more than likely that the sights are simply off.

Give me any 1911 and it will print low and left for me and the sights are zeroed. I only own two 1911 style guns because of it, both Delta Elites and for some strange reason they print fine for me.Accuracy starts with the shooter.

I have been curious about the new FN Reflex but so far none of the gun stores in my area have had any in to look at. I have heard mostly positive reviews and a couple of negative ones as well but I always like to judge for myself. Hopefully one day soon I will get to inspect and shoot one.

It is quite common that when a Company comes out with a new design, there are some issues. The Reflex might have a few minor issues as well, but just like the Sig P365, they will be worked out. Looks promising.

I held one yesterday and the ergos are the best I have ever felt on an auto, same with the trigger. The orange front sight is also elite for a stock sight. If I was not so stubborn on my preference for revolvers I would have bought it yesterday. It felt like a better version of the P365, which I have shot and really liked. I have not shot the Reflex so I cannot give a full comparison on accuracy or reliability.

Handled one at a LGS, trigger is better than a 510, which is a tad better than a 509. Size and shape are appealing. Was thinking of picking one up until...

I went another direction though, tossed the funds toward a 509cc Edge that was on sale and also had an FN rebate. After an extensive break in period of hot 124gr, its a keeper.

Next FN on my list is a M249...

BBJ, I have run the circuit on this class of pistols.

I've had the original 365, and the XL...Hellcat and H-Pro...G43 and 43X, Shield and Sheild Plus, and yes...the Reflex. Check this thread for some
cautionary info:

Reflex cautions: Finish and Baseplate/s | FN Herstal Firearms

Thee class leader, IMHO? The Stoeger STR9-MC.
I can tell you it shoots as-good as the FN, but has no such concerns.
Better versatility with it's magazines, also stainless. Takes Glock sights, IIRC.

Thank you for the cautionary information. I bought a 43c today at LGS 😁 waiting for it for a week now. I just feel most comfortable with S&W revolvers. Nothing against micro 9s just not my bag. I'll still keep this up for useful information that others can use on this new gun from FN. I think these forums are a great place for storing information and others who might be considering it may find this thread 🧵 helpful

Quite happy with my P365, but never say never.
