Optics Planet reviews
Need to order some sights and other items.
If you've bought from them recently,
any negative issues?
Thanks,
RT

None here. Ordered a Crossfire 2 scope from them last year. Delivered in quick time. Same price as in stores.

I only bought one item off Optics Planet, a Meprolight tritium front sight for my SW40VE back in 2020. Based on that one experience, they're good. Item was cheap, shipping was reasonable, arrived within about a week. No complaints.

I've never had good luck with Optics Planet. Every time I've ordered the site says product in stock. Once I ordered I get an email saying it's on backorder. Complete BS. If you want something call them first to confirm in stock. I won't use them again after they did that to me twice.

I've been a regular with Optics Planet for years, and their discount arm Dvor as well. Other than shipping being a routine shock, nothing different than most other internet retailers, they've been reliable and good suppliers. Watch their sales (and Dvor) and you can, occasionally, get an excellent deal.

I’ve bought a number of items from them, even returned a couple of them, including a holster. No issues or hassle at all. Waiting on a delivery today.

That is exactly why Midway USA is my go to for firearm related products. In decades of dealing with them I've never had an item listed in stock backordered.

My complaint about OP is that they often offer an excellent selection, but many items are not in stock, and that is not clearly noted on the product description page. They could use a webb system that shows real time inventory, like many retailers do, but they choose not to. As a result, they have left me waiting on an item they didn't have in stock that I could have picked up elsewhere without the 3 or 4 week wait. I consider it a bit shady, and avoid OP if possible.

If I have options for different vendors I always chose OP. They are one of my goto vendors because of never having a problem.

Just before Covid pricing and availability went crazy, A friend and I ordered several thousand rounds of different calibers...It took 14 months for it to dribble in to us. Optics Planet honored the original pricing.

Off my list. They are being ultra restrictive to WA residents. I think you can get a baseball cap or a keychain from them if you live here...

I swore off of OP years ago for the same negative reasons stated in several other posts. There's much better on-line distributors to do business with than OP.

I have purchased a lot from Optics Planet over the past 4 years. Scopes, red dots, rings & mounts, iron sights, and parts. I have had a part backordered that showed as being in stock exactly once. Their pricing is excellent. Their customer service is very good, and I have returned several items without any hassle. Their selection is great. The search refinement on the website works well (as opposed to the new and “improved” Brownell’s site). No one beats their pricing, especially after you build up some of their “Optics Planet Bucks”.
I must say that treating residents of Washington state unfairly doesn’t sit well with me.

I quit buying from Optics Planet a couple years ago. Ordered and paid for an “in stock” item and it backordered and they charged my credit card. I contacted them and they couldn’t give me a ship date so I demanded a refund. This happened twice so I quit dealing with them.

^^^^^^^^ I'm with him...
Was a fan for several years but seems like a corporate response to Covid & crime uptick caused an actual stock vs ability to deliver issue that they have not been able to overcome.
Tried them twice again in past 2 years or so. 1 perfect, 1 took over week. Wouldn't be a bad deal but total cost has never been enough to justify a week or more wait time.
As many pointed out, plenty of places out there that will put item in hand within a few days for same or better. price.
They do appear to honor posted costs though,

I've purchased ammunition twice in the past year. decent price and fast service. Yes, watch the fine print for "out of stock" before adding to cart.

Just started buying from them, in November. So far, I've been very pleased. Make sure to check product availability link. It will tell you expected wait times. Great prices!

Only ordered from them once I believe, ordered an Aimpoint Pro Patrol for one of my AR's. Pretty uneventful and received it quickly.
I was on there the other day looking at a threaded barrel for my Glock 23, may order that from them.

They seem to get more bad reviews than good. I only ordered from them once. A 1911 barrel bushing wrench and a box of ammo. They had the wrench classified on their site as a reloading tool, restricted in Illinois. After 5 days of explaining what it is and waiting on their "compliance Team" to check it out I gave up and cancelled the order. I have seen no reason to spend my money with them when there are other places that respond and ship promptly.

Optics Planet
I have purchased from them over the years, mostly sights, a few holsters and other things. Service was acceptable.
Their pricing is better than some other sites, but I find their website difficult to navigate.

As far as I can tell, customer service is an unknown concept there. If you are expecting a MidwayUSA type of organization - forget it.

Eurooptic is a better choice
I bought several items from optics.planet but there was always seems to be a delay in shipping, or out of stock. I finally starting ordering from eurooptic.com and i have never had a problem. Good prices and fast shipping. I will not buy from optics.planet.com again

I've ordered from them for years. I wouldn't order anything from them you need immediately, but if you can wait a week or so they are a good place to compare prices and order from when they are the best price.

They suck! Don't do it lol, they advertise everything like they have sitting right on the shelf, my binary trigger took 3 months to show up. They flat out don't care either, send all the emails ya want, they ignore. Find somewhere else!!

Re: buying from Optics Planet
I've bought a number of things from Optics Planet, and have zero negative comments. After checking prices on comparable items at other vendors went with OP and have always been pleased with quality, service, and shipping speed. Have not experienced the out of stock issues talked about by others.
And since others have talked about Midway USA, I used them for several items in the past, but don't any longer due to high cost of shipping. I DO appreciate Mr Potterfield's how to videos, and they also have very good customer service.

Zero problems with OP here. I've bought about a half dozen things from them, almost all red dots or night sights and all came pretty quickly.

I've ordered several items from them. My experience has been hit or miss. I've always gotten what I've ordered, but if you get the notification that it's out of stock you can end up waiting for a long time to get it.
They tend to have great prices, but I never anything that I need any time soon from them. Just in case it ends up being backordered.

Mostly good experience with them. Prices are very good. Delivery time is reasonable (not as good as Amazon, but not real slow).
Only negative experience I had, which was partly my fault is that I ordered a Holoson optic, when they were offering 15% off promotion. By the time it arrived, the promotion was over (by a day), and I realized I got the red dot, instead of green dot model (both were eligible).
I did an exchange, where they refunded the discounted price and I had to pay full price on the exchange.
Fair enough, but would have been nice for them to extend the price, considering the time it took them to deliver the unit, the promotion just ended, and I was just exchanging.
The bad part was I also had about $10-15 of " Planet Optic bucks" from prior purchases, which I used when I bought the original optic. I totally lost those, when exchanging the optic.
So, i just make sure that I order the right thing, when I get something from them.

I bought both of my CMMG .45 bcg/ barrel kits from them, 8 and 16 inch. Other than covid delays no problems. Sometimes you can save a little with blems or odd colors that don’t sell.

I’ve bought from them many times over the past 10 years, or so, including recently. They have a great selection of products, their pricing is good, I like their website/interface, and I’ve never had a problem with their customer service. I had to return a high dollar AR optic mount one time because of a stripped thread, and they were very good about the return, it was easy. Hope this helps.

I have bought lots of stuff from them over the years with no issues.Last year I ordered a thermal from them. It made it to my post office, but they lost it before it got to my house. PO even had a photo of my package. Took a while and some forms, but they refunded my money, as the item was no longer in stock.

I'd heard negatives about OP years back and therefore avoided them. Last year they had something that I needed that no one else had, so I took a shot - Optics Planet turned out to be great. Since then, I've ordered about six more times and each experience was just great.
One downside I'll say is that I don't find the Optics Planet site to be as neatly organized as that of other dealers. But I am happy with OP and it's now one of the first places I check when I am shopping for something.

Bought some sights from them a few years back, plus a few accessories. Then started getting out-of-stock notices on items and waited weeks, including one I tried to cancel, and they didn't. I quit using them. I do have a ball cap.

That's not their fault.
I hope I'm not around to see my state go woke.

I have a long history with them. Initially, I had no problems with them. Then a few years ago, I went through a period when they were selling stuff they didn't have in stock. You would order it and not hear any more unless you contacted them, only to find out they didn't have the item and didn't feel it was important enough to let you know. If you do a search, you'll find I wasn't alone. I stopped dealing with them until around October of last year when they had an item I looking for (infrared scope) at a really good price that I couldn't resist. I took a chance and all went well. Since then, I've ordered a few more items from them and it has gone well, so they are back in my good graces.

Called them on 1/5 about one hour before their closing time.
Clerk on the phone said the Geissele SSP trigger, for one of our 6920s, was in stock as it was stated on their website.
Then placed the order online, to avoid any address miscommunications.
Called back and a more knowledgeable clerk told me when the trigger would ship.
Trigger arrived as he said it would.
Called Powder Valley on 1/8 after placing a Varget order on 1/7.
They gave me an approximate shipping date and the powder should be here tomorrow.
Now I'll be able to load the 70gr Sierras, and other heavies,
that have been sitting around for decades.
1:12 twist on our other older rifles.
Lotsa 40/45/50/55grs still on hand from the late '70s.
1:7 and 1:8 on the Colt and Ruger ARs.
Trigger feels nice and the T36 is back on the Colt.
Usually sits on a tripod or the No.1V/223.
