After reading the thread about high capacity 9 mm CCW pistols I found one online at a local shop. The very first listing in their inventory. “P365, used in like new condition, comes with hard case, three mags in 10, 12, and 15 round capacities. $450.” So, MSRP of $599 according to Sig website, this was just fate, as I wanted to compare it with my Ruger. I cleared my gun and let him check it. He’s okay with what I was doing. I liked the size, etc., but it was in maybe fair to good at best condition. Late April Fools! At least I got to compare the guns side by side; I liked the Sig but I will continue my search, maybe buy a new one. I’m not in a hurry but unlike most of you, I like buying new/new to me guns. (That was a joke, fellow 2A friends!) I hope the new ones don’t rattle like this one did.

Actually, with the smallest mag there was nothing to hold onto, which kinda defeats the purpose of a handgun. Unless it’s a 22 caliber or something. I’m gonna casually look around when I’m in a gun store. That one today was disappointing, the way it rattled. I’ve been carrying the Ruger since it hit the streets pretty much. So I don’t need one, I just like alternatives, etc.

I have recently purchased a plain P365,after running 400rounds down the tube I started carrying it so far I have no regrets.I do like the grip better with the 12round mag ,the trigger is the best out of the box I have tried.I got the optic ready but don't see any add on's anytime soon.

I bought one when they first came out. Fits my hand perfectly. I was a little disappointed with the accuracy. But I'm so used to a tuned 1911 it's more my fault than the gun. I can still keep everything within 6" in rapid fire from 15 yards.

I got a P365 XL because the regular grip was just too short for me. Then I swapped in a Wilson Combat grip frame that’s just a bit wider and just fits my large mitts. With summer approaching (some day), I do need to smooth out the left side of the grip a bit. The texture is really grippy which is good unless I don’t have an undershirt on.

for some reason, handguns that seem to be similar in grip size and even configuration sometimes just feel very different. I have big hands, and have found the 365 with any of the mags just works well for me; I can get much of my hand on the grip. My 365 and my DW ECO in .45 are my two carry handguns. Both are supremely accurate at 7-10 yards. SF VET

They were disingenuous with the description of the 365. Shame on them, whoever "them" is.

The old, if they're selling it's "Near Mint, if buying it's 'worn out, reblued, not really popular.'

This is what makes me smile about so many small guns made for CCW. There's a huge rush to buy them, followed a few weeks later by another rush to make the gun bigger. The point of a small gun is (drumroll, please) that it's small. The sales of pinky baseplates and longer magazines just tells me that many are not prepared to practice a two-fingered grip on a concealed carry gun with a short grip. Yes, I know we are all more accurate with three fingers on the grip, but sometimes it is more about having a short grip to help conceal the gun with the clothes you wear.

Right now there are some rolling their eyes saying, "You can never be accurate with a two-fingered grip." Below is what I managed banging away fairly quickly with a Walther PPS at 12 yards, starting with the short mag giving me 6+1 and following up with a 7 round mag. Oh, and this was only my second range trip with that pistol, and the shot in the 8 ring was with the second mag.

Points well made. I bought a P365 to replace my BG 380 but it sits in the drawer as I REALLY like my 380. I can hit 10" pretty quick at 10 yards with it and I'm good with everything about the bun other than I wish Smith would do a staggered magazine like Ruger did with theirs. Seems like, unless Smith does come out with a double stack BG 380-I've found my lifetime pocket carry.

You can buy a brand new P365 in the original configuration for just over $500 and one with the manual safety some prefer for another $40 bucks. For a gun that is meant for self defense and considering all the pluses of it - I think that is a pretty fair price. You get it brand new with the warranty, no ding's, scratches or abuse and if taken care of should last for decades!! I see no real reason to buy a used gun with unknown history as a SD gun - but that is just me. My life (and my family's) is worth more than saving a few bucks.

As LVSteve noted, the point of small guns is to be small.

The beauty of most of them (P365 included) is that they're small when they need to be, and you can add the extended mags when you want the additional grip, and the increase in size isn't an issue.

LVSTEVE is right, in my opinion. A small gun on me is far more important than a bigger gun in the safe. I carried a P228 (9mm) and a P220 (45ACP). While I liked more or bigger rounds, I now carry a P365. It conceals much better, and the classic double/single action had its challenges. The P365 is a good compromise.

My problem is the “love handles” above my belt! The 220 and 228 poked out and tried to print. The 365 doesn’t, particularly when I use the no pinky extension magazines. At first, I liked the pinky extension mags; they felt better to shoot. But that extension tends to print a bit. So I use the other mags. I can hit as accurately with the 365 as I did with the 220 and 228 despite its small size.

One thing to consider about the P365, is that it’s not easy to lock in a full mag unless the slide is locked back. You wouldn’t have a lot of success ramming a new mag into the gun in a critical situation. The so-called tactical reload. Unfortunately, it works best to run the gun dry. One would hope you don’t find yourself in that situation.
