H&R Sportsman, yes another Sportsman thread
I didn't want to hijack the earlier thread. Today at the local gun show a gentleman looked at my table and noticed a couple H&R top breaks. He asked if I was interested in buying some H&R parts and when I replied "Maybe" he pulled these out of his sack.
He wanted $100 for the lot and when I picked up the Sportsman I didn't even haggle. The lifter spring is broken, as to be expected, but otherwise I think it will clean up well. The serial number is 1090 with no prefix, which makes me think it is a first year i.e. 1932 revolver.
The second revolver is the earliest H&R top break I've ever owned. He demonstrated for me that the extractor didn't work. I didn't feel obligated to point out this is a pre automatic ejector revolver. You push the rod under the barrel to extract the casings similar to any swing out cylinder revolver.
The H&R Guardian box with parts I considered a bonus. The lifter spring in the parts box frame is good and "might" fix the Sportsman.
