Default .50 Beowulf

Anyone have a .50 Beowulf upper on their AR-15 lower? Just curious...I was watching a show the other day (Future Weapons) where the host pulled out a .50 Beowulf to demonstrate how to shoot and stop a pursuing vehicle. It only took a few shots to kill the engine and penetrate the windshield. Extremely powerful round (12.7 x 42 mm; 400gr bullets), and it seemed to be very controllable in an AR platform. The .50 Beowulf can be single stacked in AR 5.56 magazines. I found the complete uppers online for $300-$800, but the ammo is outrageous at $2-$3 per round. Not sure when I would ever need to stop a vehicle or shoot attacking wild hogs or bears, but it looked pretty cool! Thoughts?

It is definitely cool to be able to shoot a 50 cal out of an ar and the recoil is nowhere near what one would expect(think lower end 12ga buckshot). If you end up getting one, the only thing I can recommend is to stay away from the bear creek arsenal version and go straight for the Alexander arms upper. I have the bear creek one, and I have never been able to get it to feed. That's despite trying multiple lowers, different buffer weights, 3 kinds of magazines, and 3 kinds of ammo. Definitely a cool round, but one that requires you to spend the money and do it right if you want it to actually function.

I dunno, at one point I was looking into getting a .458 SOCOM Upper for my AR, but fortunately I was talked out of it once I was inevitably bombarded with information which continuously drove up the cost of what was meant to be a simple, inexpensive project into the upper stratosphere because apparently only $1000 Tombo-Tango Uppers are actually good, you need an H3 Buffer, a solid shock-obsorbing stock, etc, all on top of the astronomical cost of ammunition.
