CMP is selling Tisas 1911s

This seems like an awful idea from a marketing perspective to me... Selling genuine U.S. Military 1911s, followed by a replica for a mere fraction of the cost.

The action could be interpreted as a form of indirect endorsement, with the seller being familiar with the genuine article, yet selling the replica as well, and I'm not sure how their customers who had to be put on a waiting list to pay a hefty premium might feel about that.

I'd be OK with it. It's in the first line: genuine U.S. military vs. a replica. You pay more for the real deal, and they're getting harder to find. I think this is a reaction to underestimating the market. The demand was such they had to use waiting lists. This gives someone a lower cost option if they don't need it to be an original.

I’m guessing most of their customers are smart enough to realize there are a wide variety of 1911’s available for purchase from a wide variety of retailers.

The CMP will run out of milsurp stuff eventually so I guess it makes sense.

FWIW, I have two Tisas that I use as suppressor host. One is 45 and the other is 9mm. Both are Nightstalker series and I couldn't be happier with them.

Since CMP has quit shipping the real McCoy maybe the Tisas will be the only thing available. :-(
I'm glad I got mine before the glitch. I understand they refunded the money of those who had pistols just about to be shipped.

One problem.
Tisas 1911s are selling all over town for $400.

I agree. I'm not sure how many they'll sell for $479.99, but they've always said the sell their firearms at market price.

I wish them luck, but the government has almost never been very good at pricing to market. Just ask anyone who's been in an electronics section of a PX and seen all the aging computers/laptops/etc priced the same as when they were released 2-3 years before.

So a Chinese made gun is selling for a fraction of what a real one costs? Predictable.
