Marlin 1894 SBL Lever action .44 Magnum Rifle 16" SS
My LGS has one, and it's marked at $1299. The sights are fantastic! I love a lever in gun .44 with a short barrel. The trigger and action were crisp and smooth. The ghost ring set up with green fiber front sight is a real treat. It picks up VERY quickly. It feels like it lines up so well and so fast that I could just drive with the front sight for a good 25 yards. Anyone have any experience with these rifles? It looks like $1299 is pretty darn fair. I think I would have picked it yday if I had time to deal with the transfer.
I read on another form where they need a good amount of break in sometimes. They was also a small issue with feeding or ejection ( I forget which). Ruger fixes this pronto on their dime. I would imagine they have that manufacturing glitch resolved by now. Guys were shooting 2” groups at 50 yds free hand.
My bud has the Henry (big boy) equivalent. I was really impressed how soft shooting the .44 magnum was in this size package.
It was a treat to shoot and I was very accurate at 50 yards even though the Henry had the old simi-buckhorn sights. It's as accurate at the 50 as my old Marlin 336 in 30-30.
