This was a limited production gun. Last of the Octogon barrelled models that were made this way...it is said that this was Marlin's attempt to make a gun that could be used in the Italian Speghetti Westerns of Sergio Leone. Think Clint would have looked pretty good with one of these in his hands.
I really didn't look it over thoroughly (didn't even work the lever), I thought it was a .45 Colt Cowboy. I'll check it next time I'm up that way if it's still there.
Few recall that the first .44 Magnum Marlin was chambered in the 336. The re-introduced 1894 didn't show up until 1969.
