Anyone have any experience with the new production Colt snake revolvers? LGS has a new King Cobra target model that has caught my eye. I have never owned any Colt revolvers. Lots of S&W's and one Charter Arms, but zero Colts.
What say the experts.

As I've mentioned elsewhere in these pages, bought a King shortly before the big lockdown, so I have less than a box of ammo thru it. Nothing bad to say so far. It's smaller than the original King Cobra, but recoil with 357mag isn't bad despite the smaller size. It does have the best out of the box DA trigger I've ever felt. The drawback is, they're pricey, even used. That's something you'll have to decide on.

The new Cobra and King Cobra are modern renditions of the SF-VI and Carry Magnum. They're D-Frame Colts with different lock-work compared to the original D-Frames like the Police Positive Special, Detective Special, and Cobra. I happen to have an original SF-VI along with a gaggle of original D-Frames plus the new Cobra and King Cobra.

I love 'em!

They are fantastic shooters and carry guns. My 3" King Cobra is my favorite carry piece along with my 4" S&W Model 586.

The King Cobra Target is on my wish list of guns to eventually buy. It uses the same frame as the 3" King Cobra, so it can use the smaller grips too. As a 4.25" barreled D-Frame .357 Magnum gun. I'd say that the gun is everything the current production S&W Model 66 wishes it could be.

No lawyer lock, no two piece barrel, nice handy weight and profile.

The new King Cobra is very nice, I like the 4" target model best too, and it's just such a nice compact yet not too small frame.

One thing to keep in mind: The shape of the trigger guard in combination with the factory grips makes for poor ergonomics if you have big hands. VZ and Altamont make aftermarket grips for the King Cobra (VZ grips for the new Cobra will fit the new King Cobra), but I hadn't had a chance to test any of them.

Went back today for a 2nd and closer look. I did put the gun in lay-away until Monday or Tuesday. I agree with one of the above statements, it has the best, out of the box, double action trigger of any revolver I have owned or handled. I would pick it up tommorow, but I am commited to a birthday party for oldest grand daughter (31) and my great grand daughter (3) They share the same birthday and I don't dare miss it.
Will post pics and a range report as soon as I can.

Update to my orginal post. I did buy the King Cobra Target model. It does have the best "out of the box", double action trigger of any revolver I have now, or have owned in the past. I have fired 90 rounds so far, 50 have been .38 spe. and 40 have been .357 mag. Accuracy is better than I am capable of. My only complaint is on the "adjustable" rear sight. It was designed by Mickey Mouse. The windage adjustment is not a "click" adjuster. It has a very small, recessed set screw that needs a .050" allen wrench to loosen or tighten. Even when tight, the windage screw has about 1/2 turn free play. That is my only complaint. Hopefully the after market will come up with a better system.
After the 90 rounds, my double action pull, using a Lyman digital gauge is an average after 5 pulls of 8lbs.7oz. The single action is 3lbs. 5oz. The only S&W triggers I have close to this, cost me about $100.00 after I purchased the gun.
