These have been floating around the market for awhile but I finally got around to buying one. Everything is what I expected except for two items. 1st, there is no importers stamp. I took it down and even pulled the grips, no stamp. 2nd, the serial number has not been stamped on the frame. Serial number is on the barrel and slide but I thought to be imported the ser no had to be restamped on the frame itself. This is a late production model, proof stamp is 1981. Think it just slipped through the importer without being restamped?

I just looked at some pictures of the CZ70 and I cannot see any serials on the frame. However, as a blowback gun with a fixed barrel, maybe the serial on the barrel is considered as the legitimate number.

Please post some pictures

I think you are correct. Looking at pictures on the auctions sites I see a few with importer marks stamped on the barrel. So I pulled the slide off of mine and looked it over with a magnifying glass and no markings on the barrel other than the serial number.

I just checked my CZ70 (I didn't remove the grips) and the serial numbers are on the slide and barrel (right side), but not on the frame.
There's a pencil-etched importers mark (CAI, Georgia, VT) on the left front part of the slide. On the left, rear portion of the slide there's a proof mark and the number 72. (Date of manufacture?)

The pistol is in well-worn condition, bore is good. Very, very stiff DA trigger and not so hot SA trigger, so any time I want a small .32 I grab my FEG-made PP clone (a Hege Waffen PP66) which has an outstanding trigger, is a great size, and except for micro-small sights is a pretty good gun.

Except that it's about the same size as my S&W3914LS so I don't really get any advantage shooting a gun with an comparative weak cartridge that's about the same size.

Anyone want to buy a CZ70? It's mostly a dust collector in the safe. (Although I'm becoming increasingly reluctant to sell anything that goes bang these days.)

And here's some pics

I like most 32's and the trigger seems to be smoothing out with use. One of the easiest take down systems going. 1981 production so has to be one of the last made.

IIRC the serial number that is visible through the ejection port is actually stamped into the part of the frame the barrel is installed into. I no longer have a CZ 70 but the construction is very similar to a Walther or my Hungarian PA 63. Both these have a raised portion of the frame that the actual barrel is pressed into. As to the import mark some guns miss getting stamped (or electro penciled). I have had a couple bought direct from an importer that were not marked.
