Help Me Diagnose A Problem

What color are your followers? If they are yellow your magazines are subject to recall. If they are white you are OK.

I have nine magazines and they all have white followers.

BTW, the yellow followers were the earliest, original followers, but they were never the subject of a recall. They were simply replaced by the white followers in later magazines just as the followers in the 4500 Series progressed from orange to black.

Back in the 90s, I sent back about 10 yellow follower mags, and S&W sent me all new mags with white folowers! NIP!

Outstanding!

If we wanted the same to happen today, we'd have to borrow Professor Peabody's Way Back Machine! :D

Quite surprisingly, I received my pistol back today, four weeks and 3 days from the date it was received by Smith & Wesson. They (Vito) installed a new extractor (and spring) and tuned it.

It's off to the range tomorrow to test it.

Great news! I took my returned/repaired 1076 to the range today, put approximately 250 rounds through it, and it ran like a top!

Extractor Problem solved

My gunsmith seems to have solved my problem too with a chamber polishing and new extractor. He gives me the old parts each time and I noticed the first new extractor he installed was not relieved on the bottom inside like the original one in the pistol but the one in there now is just like the original in it's shape, texture, color and works beautiful now and no charge for the new repair and he said he DEFINITELY wants to know if I have any more problems because hip rep is at stake I guess. I have a good feeling so far with about 100 rounds on the new extractor.

Sargeyork

Great to hear, Sargeyork. I'm fairly certain the primary (if not sole) reason for my pistol's FTE problem was caused by a tired extractor spring. I checked the tension of the extractor before I sent the pistol to the factory for repair and the extractor tension is MUCH stronger now. Of course, besides replacing the extractor spring, they also installed and tuned a new extractor.
