Thanks for the heads-up. Already have 15k of their large pistol and 10k of the small pistol on hand. Now if they only had some Unique in stock I might consider an order.

TWO HUGE THUMBS WAY UP

Cabelas had me waiting a month and a half.Or the way things are going I might keep em both. You never know these days

Thanks for the heads-up. I placed an order for 5K small pistol. I've already got 15K on backorder with another supplier............so hopefully these will get me by until the others come in.

Thanks! I ordered a case of of Small pistol and some powder. Left some for you guys.:)

Never used Wolf brand before, but I guess they go bang?

I have had great results with Wolf brand this year. My 4" 624 and Ruger 44 Spec do great with 6.7 of Unique and a 240 cast swc. 25 yards off the bench.

Too bad they jumped up in price! I remember them being about $9.00 less per k, B.O. (before Obama).

A box for Blazer brass 45 wasn't $35 either. It's all insane:(

Lots of folks voted "For Change" and this is the kind we got. Not the kind that jingles in your pocket.

Russian primers...

I don't understand it...

My mouth dropped open on the price of those Wolf primers!

The little guy that brings primers and such to the gunshows around here has had some of the other Russian primers- the ones in the green and white boxes...and he was selling them at the last gun show for $21.00 per thousand. I thought that was kinda high...and told him I could wait longer for the price to stabilize. I paid $14-16 for the last couple of cases that I purchased from him, and found out I could have gotten them cheaper.

Of course, that was a "could have," not to be confused with "was" and "is."

$29.00 seems to be a good deal currently.

Back in May when I ordered my last ones, they were $23 per 1,000.
In Jan. of this year $19 per 1,000.

Way too high for me right now!

Yeah, and last year in May they were $17/1000! I bought a bunch WAY before any shortage. It's called, "Reading the handwriting on the wall!"

I hear you, I'm sitting on a pile of them at that price. But that's history. If you guys need primers better get them while you can.

Thanks for info! I normally do not check Widener's. Ordered enough to keep me supplied for next 2-3 years.

I bought some Wolf primers from Wideners the day after the election. I paid $89 for 5000 Large Pistol primers and Large Rifle primers, and $87 for Small Rifle primers. That's more than a 50% increase in price. The price from the manufacturer did not increase that much, but the price increase reflects greed. As long as the feeding frenzy lasts, you can expect the price to continue climbing.

Powder Valley is already out of Wolf primers and Widener's is down to LPP, SRP and LRM primers. The hoarders are still at it and buying up anything in sight as soon as it hits the market. Things won't get better until the hoarding stops. I'm glad to see PV kept the price down somewhat. They were charging $25.50/K while Widener's was charging $29/K.

It's sick to see Wolf primers as high as Winchester and CCI. Last year while Winchester primers were $24.95/K Wolf primers were only $17/K. Then they went to $19/K before the crunch. It's unreal the Wolf primers are now $29/K especially since overseas there is no primer shortage and prices have remained the same for the past several years. It's either the U.S. importers or the distributors who are doubling the prices, not the overseas manufacturers.

Unfortunately it's the market place at work. When supply gets tight, prices rise to try to slow demand. The practical end to what we're complaining about is that if the primers that are getting out were still at the old prices, the same hoarders would only buy even more and many would wind up on GunBroker or gun show tables as is happening even now. The alternative to profiteers is government control, because appealing to the better side of human nature ain't gonna cut it . . . .

I'm sure many of the guys who are bragging about snatching up whatever ammo they find at Wally World every time they visit would not have ever bought that much ammo in "normal" times. As long as folks are willing to pay what is asked and will buy all they can get, the prices will remain high.

High prices and all, Widener's is about 5 days behind in filling and shipping orders, thanks to all those orders for primers. I placed my order on 17 July.

Here is e-mail response I got promptly today from them...
"Please be paitent, we are running about 5 days behind due to all of the orders we received for the primers. Orders starting with 796 look like they will begin being processed late this week, putting the shipping date towards teh middle of next week. We sincerely apologize for the delays, we are working as fast as we can to get these orders finalized and shipped."

As far as the prices go, I was very happy to find some primers and do not feel the price was that bad all things considered. Sure we can look at yesterday and before but those days are gone primarily due to US the Consumers. There was no change in Legislation only the fear and anticipation of what May happen. There are lines of people at Wal Mart at 6am everyday waiting just to see if any ammo is put out. Whatever it is they buy it.

Now lets talk about gas prices, do we have high prices due to the beginning of "summer blend"? or is it the schools out "Holiday Blend"?. Should be switching here in Florida to the gonna have a Hurricane blend and everyone will be filling up 10, 5 gal gas cans and topping off their tanks when they use 2 or 3 gallons.
Then there is a distubance in the force.

The Big Brown Truck brought my 5k Wolf SP primers in yesterday...........Hopefully those will last me until my order comes in from Graf's.
