My First "Black Rifle"

How is the Tapco trigger on your AK? I have a Hungarian AMD with the Tapco trigger and it is very light when compared to a standard AK. When I hand it to an AK owner to shoot I tell them about it and their eyes usually still get big and they respond with "whoa".

I don't have a trigger gauge, but guessing this trigger breaks at about 4 pounds on the second stage. I like it; it's a lot better than my Chinese SKS.

Maybe my first black gun was a rem 788 I bought back in '73 decided to add a synthetic stock was a better option for SW FL swamps hunting and rainy weather . . But I never liked that plastic stock and removed it , sanded down the awful finish on the wood stock and applied 6 coats of warm tong oil inside and out and replay a coat or two every year .We have lived in western NC since and that old rifle still looks very nice blued finish and all . I did add a rifle basic 1lb trigger to it some years back . It still has the original 2.5-10x40mm scope on it .

My interest in military carbines or rifles never peaked until I say a aero precision add for AR15 uppers and lowers in some gun rag. Ordered 2 uppers and lowers and started researching parts for a couple AR15's for my wife and I and took about 4 months to research quality parts , order the parts and finally assemble our own AR's . Nice to have a couple " black "sub moa ar15's . Finally got around to building a AR9 colt mag version that is our fun gun too.

My first 'black rifle' was a AR15 clone of the Vietnam era rifle.

I also had a AK clone built by a company that is now gone but was near me in Houston at the time.
